We are seeking a highly motivated Photonics Design Engineer with a Master's degree and relevant industry experience, or a PhD in Photonics, Optics, Physics, or Electrical Engineering. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, modeling, and optimization of integrated photonic devices and circuits, contributing to the development of cutting-edge semiconductor and photonics technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design, simulate, and optimize active and passive integrated photonic devices and circuits.
- Develop and refine photonic device models to meet key performance targets, including efficiency, bandwidth, insertion loss, and reliability.
- Collaborate closely with process and fabrication teams to ensure design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and successful production outcomes.
- Perform design verification, simulation validation, and correlation of modeling results with experimental data.
- Support the full product development lifecycle, from concept evaluation and prototyping through qualification and volume manufacturing.
- Prepare technical documentation, design specifications, and reports, while supporting testing, characterization, and system integration activities.
- Undertake other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience, or a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Optics, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Strong hands-on experience with photonic design and simulation tools such as Lumerical, COMSOL, or equivalent platforms.
- Solid understanding of photonic device physics, including waveguides, modulators, photodetectors, lasers, and related components.
- Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes and design-for-manufacturability (DFM) methodologies.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, MATLAB, or similar programming languages.
- Experience in silicon photonics, III-V photonics, heterogeneous integration, or hybrid photonic platforms will be advantageous.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
