About the role
To translate approved drawings and design outputs from the Design Engineer and/or Project Manager into accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and Bills of Materials (BOM) for tendering, subcontracting and procurement, across rooftop, ground-mounted, floating solar PV and battery energy storage projects (including Large Scale Solar and C&I). To manage the commercial side of assigned projects from tender through to final account, including tender rate build-up, subcontractor payment certification, client progress claims and variation orders. To provide Accounts & Finance with reliable monthly work-done and cost-to-complete figures for construction revenue recognition (WIP), and to give management accurate view of project cost against the BOQ. To uphold standard QS templates, methods and records across all projects.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out quantity take-off from approved drawings, layouts, SLDs, cable schedules and specifications issued by the Design Engineer and/or Project Manager.
- Prepare the BOQ (for tender pricing, client submission and subcontractor Schedules of Rates) and the BOM (for procurement) using the company's standard BOQ/BOM structure for Private-scale and Utility-scale projects.
- Price tender BOQs through rate build-up using supplier and subcontractor quotations, machinery and equipment costs, labour and preliminaries.
- Receive measured work done from the Construction Engineer, value the measured work against the subcontract BOQ/SOR and agreed rates, and prepare payment certificates / recommendations including retention, advance recovery, back-charges and other deductions.
- Reconcile free-issue material issued against material installed and the agreed wastage allowance, and quantify excess wastage, loss or damage.
- Prepare i2's interim progress claims / valuations to the client based on measured work done and the contract payment terms, with full supporting documents.
- Value subcontractor variations and claims (additional work, omissions, EOT-related cost, disruption) using contract rates or fair valuation.
- Maintain the project cost report against the BOQ budget, covering budget, committed cost, actual cost and forecast final cost.
- Prepare a monthly work-done valuation and cost-to-complete for each project for Accounts & Finance's WIP / percentage-of-completion accounting.
- Prepare and agree subcontractor final accounts and the client final account.
