Responsibilities and duties
Delivery and collection:
Transporting and collecting cargo as instructed, whether it's for local deliveries or long-haul routes.
Communication:
Maintaining constant radio and transport contact with the controller or dispatcher.
Record-keeping:
Keeping accurate records of all transported cargoes and goods.
Vehicle maintenance:
Performing daily checks, cleaning, and general upkeep of the vehicle.
Loading and unloading:
Assisting with the loading and unloading of cargo, sometimes with the help of equipment like a pallet jack.
Safety compliance:
Adhering to all safety regulations, speed limits, and traffic laws, and striving for a safe driving record.
Requirements
A valid driver's license for the specific vehicle class (e.g., Class 4/4A or Class 3/3A in Singapore for a prime mover).
A clean driving record.
The ability to operate heavy vehicles confidently and safely.
Additional specialized training may be required for certain types of cargo, such as hazardous materials.
