About the Roles

Join a Marine Equipment Wholesaler as a Data Engineer (Python / SQL / AWS) based in Tuas West. This is a permanent position with a 5-day workweek, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, plus one Saturday per month from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The role offers a Basic Salary + Bonus and opportunities to work on data engineering projects involving equipment performance monitoring, AWS cloud services, and AI/ML applications.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines for equipment performance monitoring and remote monitoring applications.
• Collect, clean, transform, and process time-series sensor data from shipboard machinery.
• Build and test ETL/ELT processes to support accurate data collection, storage, and retrieval.
• Assist with SQL queries, database operations, data validation, and quality checks under senior team guidance.
• Support AWS cloud services, including S3, RDS, Lambda, and AWS Glue.
• Develop and test APIs and backend services using Python and SQL for AI/ML applications and web platforms.
• Monitor data pipelines, resolve technical issues, and enhance data processing efficiency with team support.
• Prepare technical documentation, test reports, and data processing procedures.
• Collaborate with data engineers and other team members on projects and technical assignments.
• Carry out other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, IT, or related fields.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for database management, data processing, and API development.
• Understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines, data integration, transformation, and database optimisation.
• Practical experience using pandas, NumPy, and MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with AWS S3, RDS, Lambda, and Glue gained through academic, internship, or personal projects.
• Ability to use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) with proper code review and testing.
• Familiarity with Linux, Git, and basic scripting.
• Knowledge of real-time data pipelines, Docker, Apache Airflow, or data streaming is an advantage; training provided.
