Role Description

We are seeking a careful and organized laboratory professional to support research projects, analytical testing, or routine laboratory activities. You will work with researchers, analysts, and technical colleagues to prepare materials, carry out assigned procedures, and maintain clear records. Responsibilities will vary according to the position, laboratory discipline, and level of training.

As a Research Assistant, you will support experimental preparation, sample collection or processing, literature reviews, and data organization. You may conduct experiments under approved protocols, document observations, and assist with preliminary analysis and the preparation of research reports. You will communicate unexpected findings and discuss procedural changes with the supervising researcher before implementation.

As a Laboratory Analyst, you will prepare and analyze samples using established methods, review quality control results, and assess whether test runs meet acceptance criteria. You will record calculations, investigate unusual results within your responsibilities, and prepare findings for review. Depending on the laboratory, you may also assist with method verification, validation studies, and troubleshooting.

As a Laboratory Technician, you will support daily laboratory readiness by preparing reagents, maintaining supplies, cleaning equipment, and coordinating sample storage and disposal. Across these positions, you will follow applicable safety and quality procedures, maintain equipment logs, preserve sample traceability, and promptly report deviations, equipment faults, or potential hazards.

Qualifications

• A diploma or degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, or another discipline relevant to the laboratory’s work.
• Relevant laboratory, research, analytical testing, or technical experience is preferred; supervised academic laboratory experience may be considered for entry-level positions.
• Familiarity with standard laboratory practices, including sample preparation, accurate measurement, reagent preparation, and contamination prevention.
• Ability to follow written methods and protocols, recognize procedural deviations, and seek clarification when required.
• Experience with equipment or techniques relevant to the position, such as microscopy, spectroscopy, chromatography, or molecular biology methods.
• Strong attention to detail when labeling samples, recording observations, performing calculations, and maintaining traceable records.
• Understanding of laboratory quality controls and the importance of reporting unexpected or out-of-specification results.
• For research responsibilities, the ability to review scientific literature, organize experimental data, and summarize findings clearly.
• For analytical responsibilities, confidence reviewing test data and assessing results against established acceptance criteria.
• Awareness of laboratory safety practices, chemical or biological hazards, and appropriate waste handling procedures.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems, electronic notebooks, Microsoft Excel, or similar data recording tools is beneficial.
• Good organizational and teamwork skills, with a responsible approach to equipment care, deadlines, and laboratory housekeeping.
