Company Description AGAM Theatre Lab is a Singapore-based charity focused on building a sustainable space for Indian theatre in Singapore. Founded in 2019, the organization promotes and advances Indian literary, theatrical, and dramatic art forms for diverse audiences. AGAM Theatre Lab has produced traditional Tamil theatre while also exploring new and innovative theatrical formats. The team collaborates with artists, creatives, and community partners to support culturally rich and meaningful performances. Applicants joining AGAM will be part of a mission-driven organization committed to artistic excellence and cultural preservation.


Role Description This is a part-time Accountant role based in Singapore with a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a combination of on-site and work-from-home tasks. Ideally once a week in office. The Accountant will manage day-to-day financial operations, including bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, and bank reconciliations. The role involves preparing financial statements, monitoring budgets, and supporting grant and funding-related financial reporting. The Accountant will ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and charity regulations in Singapore, maintain accurate records, and assist with annual audits. Collaboration with the leadership and production teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making is also a key aspect of this role.


Qualifications

  • Strong skills in bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliation, with attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Experience in preparing financial statements, budgeting, and financial reporting for small organizations or non-profits.
  • Knowledge of Singapore accounting standards, charity regulations, and basic tax requirements.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and MS Excel or equivalent spreadsheet tools.
  • Ability to work independently in a hybrid setting, manage time effectively, and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is an advantage.
  • Prior experience in the arts, non-profit, or charity sector is beneficial, along with an interest in theatre or cultural work.
