About the Role

Xionex is looking for an experienced Senior Trade Finance Document Checker to join our Trade Finance Operations team. This role is responsible for reviewing and checking international trade finance documents to ensure compliance with documentary credit terms, international banking rules, internal procedures, and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality document checking services while supporting process excellence and digital transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and examine trade finance documents presented under Letters of Credit (Import and Export), Documentary Collections, Guarantees, and other trade finance instruments.
• Ensure documents comply with Letter of Credit terms and conditions, UCP 600, ISBP, URC, URDG, and applicable international trade finance rules.
• Identify discrepancies, prepare discrepancy reports, and communicate findings accurately within agreed turnaround times.
• Validate document completeness, authenticity, consistency, and compliance with regulatory and internal operational requirements.
• Support end-to-end document checking for both first-level and second-level review where required.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders, correspondent banks, clients, and operations teams to resolve document-related queries.
• Maintain high accuracy and productivity while meeting Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Participate in quality assurance reviews, process improvements, and operational risk control activities.
• Support automation, digital trade finance initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Banking, International Trade, or a related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in Trade Finance Operations with strong hands-on experience in document checking.
• Sound knowledge of:
• Letters of Credit (Import & Export)
• Documentary Collections
• Bank Guarantees / Standby Letters of Credit
• UCP 600, ISBP 821, URC 522, URDG 758
• Strong understanding of SWIFT trade finance messages (MT7xx series is an advantage).
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple transactions while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• CDCS (Certified Documentary Credit Specialist) certification is an advantage.
• Experience working in shared services, global banking operations, or international trade finance processing.
• Exposure to digital trade finance platforms or AI-enabled trade operations is an added advantage.
