Role Description

Expression of Interest: GenAI Test Engineers

VerifyAI Malaysia is building a small team in GenAI testing and red teaming, aimed at meeting the standards for third-party AI testing providers, such as Singapore’s AI TAP. We need talents to test LLMs and AI applications for functionality, reliability, safety and security, and report findings that clients can act on.

What the test engineer should know

Core testing

• Test planning, test cases, functional and exploratory testing
• Clear defect reporting (steps to reproduce, severity, evidence)

GenAI-specific

• How LLMs work at a basic level: prompts, context windows, hallucination, RAG, agents
• Evaluating outputs: accuracy, consistency, bias, toxicity, robustness
• Non-deterministic behavior: the same prompt can give different answers, so you test with repeated runs and scoring, not just pass/fail

Red teaming and security

• Jailbreaks and prompt injection
• Data leakage and unsafe or harmful output
• Basic vulnerability assessment
• Risks specific to agentic systems (tool misuse, unintended actions)

Tools and skills (not required, preferred)

• Python scripting and API testing (e.g. Postman, requests)
• Familiarity with open evaluation tools; Singapore’s AI Verify and its testing toolkits are good to learn
• Documenting results in a structured, repeatable way

What you’d do

• Plan and run tests on LLMs and AI-enabled applications, checking functionality, reliability, performance and safety
• Do structured and exploratory testing, and set up test environments
• Document defects, risks and edge cases clearly
• Help with AI red teaming, finding where models can break, be misused or behave unsafely
• Help build reusable testing frameworks and best practices for AI testing
• Help make sure AI solutions meet technical, regulatory and responsible AI expectations

Who we’re looking for

• Interns, final-year students and fresh grads in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a habit of asking “what happens if…?”
• A basic grasp of testing: test cases, test execution, functional testing
• Clear writing and communication, and comfort working across teams

Nice to have (not required)

• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, LLMs or model evaluation
• Experience with test automation, scripting (e.g. Python) or API testing
• Interest in security testing, vulnerability assessment or AI red teaming
