Equitable Technologies is an MIT-founded medical technology startup headquartered in Boston, with a product development team in Kuala Lumpur. We are developing an innovative approach to cancer screening designed to make early detection more accessible and affordable.

Our advisory network includes leaders from MIT, Harvard, the US FDA, and Cleveland Clinic. Operating in stealth mode, we are building a multidisciplinary team to bring this technology to life.

We’re building our product development team in Kuala Lumpur and are looking for a Mobile Application Developer to help build and maintain our mobile applications, backend services and integrations with connected hardware.

You'll develop cross-platform mobile applications using Flutter and React Native, contribute to backend services using Node.js and PostgreSQL, and work closely with our hardware, firmware and product teams.

This role goes beyond UI development. You'll help integrate mobile applications with physical devices, handle real-time device data, develop video and media workflows, and work with native iOS and Android capabilities. You'll collaborate directly with hardware and firmware engineers to ensure reliable communication between our mobile software and connected devices.

•    Develop, maintain and optimize cross-platform mobile applications for iOS and Android using Flutter and React Native.

•    Build responsive, user-friendly interfaces and maintain scalable application architecture.

•    Develop and integrate backend services, REST APIs and database functionality using Node.js and PostgreSQL.

•    Work closely with hardware and firmware engineers to integrate mobile applications with physical devices and troubleshoot hardware-software integration issues.

•    Implement device communication, real-time data processing and connected-device functionality, including Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) where required.

•    Manage native platform configurations, troubleshoot iOS and Android issues, and support App Store and Google Play releases.

•    Implement video playback, streaming and other media-related features.

•    Integrate WebSockets, authentication and local data storage to support reliable application workflows.

•    Integrate AI/LLM services into mobile and backend workflows where appropriate.

•    Collaborate across engineering teams to improve application performance, reliability and maintainability.

•    3–7 years of professional mobile application development experience.

•    Hands-on experience with Flutter (Dart) and React Native (JavaScript/TypeScript).

•    Experience developing and deploying mobile applications for iOS and Android.

•    Practical iOS build and release experience, including Xcode, signing, provisioning and App Store submission.

•    Experience developing backend services using Node.js and working with PostgreSQL.

•    Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, authentication, asynchronous programming and state management.

•    Strong debugging, problem-solving and software engineering fundamentals.

•    Ability to work independently and collaborate across mobile, backend, hardware, firmware and product teams.

•    Experience with native Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin or Java.

•    Experience with hardware integration, BLE, IoT, wearables or other connected-device applications.

•    Experience with video playback, streaming or media-heavy applications.

•    Experience with WebSockets, offline storage, push notifications or background processing.

•    Experience with mobile CI/CD tools such as Fastlane, GitHub Actions or Codemagic.

•    Experience integrating AI/LLM APIs.
