Key Responsibilities

Crane Erection & Installation

• Carry out assembly, erection, installation, and dismantling of cranes, including mobile cranes, crawler cranes, tower cranes, and other lifting equipment, according to the crane type and project requirements.
• Install crane components such as boom sections, jib sections, counterweights, structural frames, wire ropes, hooks, and other mechanical assemblies.
• Perform alignment, positioning, bolting, fastening, and securing of crane structures.
• Follow approved erection and dismantling procedures, engineering drawings, and manufacturers' specifications.
• Assist with crane configuration changes, boom extensions, and replacement of crane components.
• Ensure all erection activities are performed under the supervision of authorised personnel where required.

Inspection & Maintenance Support

• Conduct visual inspections of crane structures and mechanical components before and after erection.
• Identify defects, structural damage, loose connections, wear, or mechanical abnormalities.
• Assist maintenance personnel with repair, replacement, and servicing of crane components.
• Support functional checks, commissioning, and load testing under the direction of authorised personnel.
• Maintain proper records of crane assembly, dismantling, inspections, and maintenance activities.

Workplace Safety & Compliance

• Comply with applicable Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations, company safety policies, and site requirements.
• Participate in toolbox meetings, risk assessments, and safe work briefings.
• Follow approved method statements and safe work procedures for crane erection and dismantling.
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including fall protection equipment when working at heights.
• Report unsafe conditions, near misses, incidents, and equipment defects promptly.
• Stop work and inform the supervisor when unsafe conditions are identified.
• Ensure crane erection and dismantling activities are carried out by appropriately trained and authorised personnel.

Site Coordination & Documentation

• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, crane operators, and other site personnel to ensure smooth crane erection operations.
• Assist in preparing tools, equipment, lifting accessories, and crane components before commencement of work.
• Maintain good housekeeping and proper storage of tools and crane components.
• Complete daily work reports, inspection checklists, and other required documentation.
• Perform other operational duties assigned by the supervisor or management.

Job Requirements

• Minimum secondary education, NTC, NITEC, or equivalent technical qualification.
• Preferably 2–5 years of relevant experience in crane erection, dismantling, rigging, or heavy lifting operations.
• Experience working in shipyards, marine, offshore, construction, or heavy engineering environments is advantageous.
• Familiarity with mobile cranes, crawler cranes, tower cranes, or marine lifting equipment is preferred.
• Knowledge of crane structures, mechanical assembly, and erection procedures.
• Relevant crane erection, rigging, or lifting certifications, as required for the specific crane type and work activity.
• Work-at-Height training, where applicable.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or shifts according to operational requirements.
