About the Role

This is currently an individual contributor role as our Malaysia operations are at an early stage, with opportunities to shape future team structures as the business grows. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Procurement Manager to lead the full spectrum of procurement operations across our Malaysia entities. This role reports directly to our General Manager, Finance of Malaysia and plays a critical role in ensuring process accuracy, compliance, and strategic support for business growth. The successful candidate may also be required to provide procurement support to other group or portfolio companies operating in Malaysia, as directed by the General Manager, Finance of Malaysia.


Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree/ Professional Qualification in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Management or related field.
  • 3 - 5 years of procurement experience, preferably in renewable energy, engineering, technology or engineering sectors.
  • Experience in start‑up or fast‑growth environments is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Strong business partnering capabilities with proven experience collaborating across regions, including close engagement with HQ and regional stakeholders.
  • Experience in supplier management is an advantage.


Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of renewable‑energy equipment procurement (solar modules, inverters, batteries, turbines, EV chargers).
  • Experience implementing ERP or procurement systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Understanding of contract law, commercial terms, and supplier compliance.
  • Proficiency in spend analytics and procurement KPIs.


Soft Skills

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • High integrity, ethical judgment, and alignment with sustainability values.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects, and adapt to rapid changes.
  • Strategic mindset with hands‑on execution capability.


Key Responsibilities:

1 Procurement Strategy & Governance

  • Develop and implement the company’s procurement strategy aligned with renewable‑energy business goals.
  • Establish procurement policies, SOPs, and compliance frameworks suitable for a start‑up environment.
  • Drive adherence to ethical sourcing, sustainability, and company values in all procurement decisions.
  • Build category strategies for renewable‑energy equipment, engineering services, IT systems, and general indirect spend.


2 Supplier Sourcing, Evaluation & Relationship Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers capable of supporting renewable‑energy projects (solar, wind, storage, EV infrastructure, etc.).
  • Conduct supplier due diligence covering technical capability, ESG compliance, financial stability, and regulatory adherence.
  • Develop long‑term supplier partnerships to support scalability and innovation.
  • Maintain supplier scorecards and performance reviews.


3 Procurement Operations & Contracting

  • Lead RFQ/RFP processes, commercial negotiations, and contract finalization.
  • Ensure clarity of deliverables, technical specifications, warranties, and service levels.
  • Manage PO issuance, delivery tracking, and resolution of supply issues.
  • Oversee 3‑way matching (PO–GRN–Invoice) with Finance.


4 IT System Setup & Digital Procurement Enablement


  • Lead the implementation, and rollout of procurement IT systems (ERP modules, e‑procurement platforms, supplier portals).
  • Define system requirements, workflows, approval matrices, and data governance.
  • Ensure integration with Finance, Operations, Engineering, and Project Management.
  • Champion digital tools for spend analytics, supplier risk monitoring, and automated compliance.


5 Compliance, Risk Management & Sustainability


  • Ensure procurement activities comply with internal policies, local regulations, renewable‑energy standards, and environmental guidelines.
  • Implement controls to prevent fraud, conflict of interest, and non‑compliant purchasing.
  • Drive sustainable procurement practices (green materials, low‑carbon suppliers, recyclable packaging, ethical labor).
  • Maintain audit‑ready documentation and support external audits.


6 Cross‑Functional Collaboration


  • Work closely with Business Development, Engineering, Project Delivery, Operations, and Finance to understand technical requirements and project timelines.
  • Support new‑site development, renewable‑energy installations, and commissioning activities through timely procurement.
  • Provide procurement insights for budgeting, forecasting, and cost‑optimization initiatives.


7 Team Leadership

  • Build and mentor a small procurement team as the start‑up scales.
  • Promote a culture of integrity, transparency, and continuous improvement.
