Position Overview
We are seeking a versatile and hands-on M&E Maintenance Engineer to oversee the complete electrical, mechanical, automation, and facility maintenance operations of our manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will combine strong mechanical power transmission expertise, PLC/automation capabilities, AutoCAD drafting for parts localization, facility/hostel maintenance, and JKKP safety compliance to maintain maximum machinery uptime, operational safety, and cost control.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Power Distribution & Motor Control Systems
- Power & Control Circuits: Perform hands-on installation, diagnostics, and wiring checks on control panels, motor starters, contactors, thermal overlays, and relays.
- Control Panel Engineering: Design, build, and rewire machine control panels in-house to optimize capital expenditure and modernize legacy machinery.
- Instrumentation & Safety Controls: Calibrate, troubleshoot, and replace field instruments, including temperature controllers, safety light curtains, limit switches, and proximity sensors.
2. PLC, HMI & Industrial Automation (Full Technical Scope)
- PLC Programming & Logic: Perform hands-on ladder logic programming, modifications, and online fault diagnostics across industrial PLCs (Delta, Siemens, Schneider).
- SCADA & HMI Configuration: Configure and troubleshoot HMI screens for line monitoring, alarm handling, and operator input interfaces.
- Drive Parameterization: Parameterise, troubleshoot fault codes, and replace Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs/Inverters) and braking resistors.
- Digitalization & Monitoring: Implement basic IoT and dashboard setups (e.g., Node-RED, MQTT) for real-time machine performance tracking and downtime monitoring.
3. Mechanical Maintenance & Power Transmission Reliability
- Mechanical Breakdown & PM: Oversee mechanical repairs, machinery overhauls, and preventive maintenance across all continuous production lines.
- Drive Assemblies: Diagnose and service mechanical power transmission components, including gearboxes, spur gears, chain couplings, timing belts/pulleys, bearings, and shafts.
- Hydraulics & Pneumatics: Service pneumatic control valves, air cylinders, hydraulic power units, and centralized lubrication pumps.
4. Mechanical Design, AutoCAD Drafting & Reverse Engineering
- Parts Localization: Reverse-engineer imported machinery parts and power transmission components to produce precise 2D/3D fabrication drawings in AutoCAD for local suppliers.
- Jig & Machine Modifications: Design mechanical jigs, fixtures, and structural brackets to improve machine performance and ergonomics.
- Safety & Emergency Maps: Draft plant layout drawings in AutoCAD detailing emergency exit routes, fire extinguisher locations, and JKKP-compliant safety signage.
5. Facility Management & Plant Utilities Upkeep
- Industrial Piping & Utilities: Maintain plant utility networks, including process piping for extrusion lines, air compressors, and cooling towers.
- Civil & Hostel Maintenance: Oversee general plant civil upkeep, simple plumbing repairs, and worker hostel accommodation facilities.
6. Safety (JKKP/DOSH), ISO Compliance & Inventory Management
- JKKP/DOSH Compliance: Act as an active member of the Company Safety Committee, ensuring full plant compliance with statutory safety regulations and audits.
- ISO 9001:2015 Quality: Ensure strict adherence to ISO standards by keeping complete breakdown logs, preventive maintenance records, and equipment calibration files.
- Spare Parts Inventory: Manage the maintenance spare parts store, establishing minimum/maximum (Min-Max) inventory levels for critical electrical and mechanical spares to eliminate unplanned downtime.
7. Financial Justification, CapEx & Vendor Management
- CapEx Proposals: Prepare technical and financial proposals for Capital Expenditure (CapEx) projects, line automation upgrades, and machine additions for top management approval.
- Monthly OPEX Justification: Review, track, and justify monthly maintenance expenditures against budget allocations set by the Finance Department.
- Vendor Operations: Manage external engineering workshops, automation vendors, and fabrication contractors to negotiate competitive pricing and ensure quality workmanship.
8. Department Leadership, Team Supervision & Reporting
- Weekly Production Meetings: Represent the maintenance department in weekly production meetings, reporting on machine uptime, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on breakdowns, and project milestones.
- Team Leadership & Trainee Development: Lead, schedule, and supervise shift maintenance technicians and engineering trainees, creating structured work instructions and technical training roadmaps.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (with strong electrical background), or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of hands-on industrial plant maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, with proven exposure to facility management and safety compliance.
Core Competencies:
- M&E & Automation (Essential): Strong hands-on expertise in PLC logic (Delta/Siemens/Schneider), VFD parameterization, motor control panels, power transmission components, and AutoCAD drafting.
- Facilities & Safety: Practical knowledge of plant utilities (piping/plumbing), worker hostel upkeep, and JKKP/DOSH safety regulations.
- Financial & Administrative: Experience in drafting CapEx proposals, justifying monthly maintenance expenses, managing vendor contracts, and controlling spare parts inventory.
