• Minimum 2-5 years of experience in sheet metal assembly, mechanical assembly, steel structure assembly, fabrication, or manufacturing operations.

• Experience assembling products fabricated from galvanized steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or structural sheet metal is preferred.

• Experience in industries such as:

  • Cooling Towers

  • HVAC Equipment

  • Industrial Equipment

  • Metal Fabrication

  • Electrical Enclosures

  • Machinery Manufacturing

• Competence to read fabrication drawings and perform dimensional verification is highly desirable.

PURPOSE 

The Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling cooling tower components and related products according to engineering drawings, work instructions, quality standards, and safety requirements. The role responsible for production targets through efficient assembly operations, continuous improvement initiatives, and adherence to established manufacturing processes.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for assembling cooling tower structures, casings, fan stacks, louvers, access doors, framework, basins, and other sheet metal components according to engineering drawings and work instructions.

• Perform fitting, alignment, fastening, and installation of galvanized steel, stainless steel, FRP, and other cooling tower components.

• Assemble mechanical systems including fan assemblies, gearboxes, motors, drive shafts, bearings, piping, valves, and water distribution systems.

• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and technical specifications.

• Verify dimensions, hole alignment, squareness, levelness, and fit-up of fabricated sheet metal parts before assembly.

• Perform drilling, riveting, bolting, torque tightening, sealing, and minor modification work during assembly when required.

• Use hand tools, pneumatic tools, electric tools, torque wrenches, and lifting equipment safely and correctly.

• Responsible for proper installation of gaskets, sealants, fasteners, and hardware to prevent water leakage and achieve product reliability.

• Responsible for assembling of support modular and sub-assembly activities to improve production flow and productivity.

• Responsible to complete assigned production orders according to daily production schedules and takt time requirements.

Quality Assurance

• Conduct self-inspection and first-piece verification before proceeding with production assembly.

• Ensure all assembled cooling tower components comply with engineering specifications and quality standards.

• Record inspection results and quality data as required.

• Identify, segregate, and report non-conforming parts and assemblies.

• Participate in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.

Safety, 5S & Compliance

• Adhere to all plant safety requirements, PPE regulations, and safe work procedures.

• Follow proper material handling and lifting practices when handling large sheet metal panels and structural components.

• Maintain workplace cleanliness and organization in accordance with 5S standards.

• Report unsafe conditions, near misses, equipment abnormalities, and safety incidents immediately.

• Participate actively in safety training and continuous improvement initiatives.
