General Manager of Overseas Operations (Commercial Coating Solutions)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced General Manager of Overseas Operations to spearhead our international growth and lead our Overseas Business Unit. In this role, you will hold full P&L accountability, shape long-term global expansion strategies—with a focus on emerging markets like Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa—and lead cross-cultural teams across regional sales, marketing, operations, and local offices.

Key Responsibilities

• P&L & Operational Leadership: Take full ownership of the Overseas Business Unit’s operational performance and P&L. Formulate and execute annual business plans and budgets to hit revenue, profitability, return rates, and market share targets.

• Strategic Market Expansion: Define medium- and long-term overseas expansion strategies across key regions (Southeast Asia, Middle East, Africa). Analyze industry trends, competitive landscapes, and regulatory environments to identify emerging opportunities and drive market entry.

• Channel & Sales Network Development: Oversee the construction and optimization of overseas sales systems. Build robust dealer and agent networks, pursue major strategic accounts (real estate developers, international EPC general contractors, building material retail chains), and drive both engineering (B2B) and retail channels.

• Cross-Cultural Team & Office Management: Build, mentor, and scale an international team. Drive operational efficiency, cross-cultural collaboration, talent pipeline development, and standardized process management across global branches and offices.

• Brand Marketing & Product Localization: Oversee localized brand campaigns, trade shows, job-site demonstrations, and channel promotions. Partner with Group R&D, product, and supply chain teams to ensure localized product adaptation, technical support, and seamless delivery.

• Compliance & Risk Mitigation: Ensure strict adherence to international trade rules, local laws, foreign exchange management, and supply chain security. Maintain strong relationships with local governments, industry bodies, and strategic partners.

• Executive Reporting & Strategy: Provide regular operational performance updates and market insights to Group executive leadership to inform strategic decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or above (degree in Coatings, Chemical Engineering, Marketing, International Trade, or related fields preferred).

• Experience: 10+ years of overseas sales management experience in Coatings, Building Materials, or Home Furnishings, with 5+ years in a senior leadership/General Manager role managing regional teams.

• Market Expertise: Proven track record of success expanding into emerging markets across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, or Africa. Demonstrated expertise in architectural or engineering coatings is highly desirable.

• Track Record: Quantifiable success building international channel networks, closing major corporate/project deals, and navigating the end-to-end overseas project contracting and international trade lifecycle.

• Leadership & Mobility: Exceptional strategic vision, cross-cultural team management skills, and cross-functional coordination abilities. Resilience to thrive under pressure and willingness to undertake frequent international travel.

• Languages & Technical Knowledge: Professional working proficiency in English (fluency in Southeast Asian or Middle Eastern languages is a strong plus). Solid grasp of international trade regulations, import/export compliance, and basic offshore tax strategies.
