With offices strategically located in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, and Penang, we are committed to providing seamless, high-quality legal solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients.

At HHQ, our vision is to be Malaysia's leading law firm, recognised for legal excellence, integrity, and innovation. Guided by our mission to empower everybody with the law, we foster a culture of legal entrepreneurship, continuous learning and professional development, and the digital transformation of legal services.

As we continue to grow and expand, we are looking for talented, driven, and passionate individuals to join our team. If you are seeking a rewarding career with opportunities to learn, innovate, and grow alongside one of Malaysia's leading law firms, we invite you to explore the following opportunities.

About the Role

We are looking to hire a Junior Associate with 2–3 years’ PQE to join our Technology Practice Group.

The role will focus on a broad range of technology-related legal work, including fintech, personal data protection, technology, media and telecommunications, intellectual property, digital assets, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance and technology transactions.

This is a strong opportunity for a junior lawyer who is ambitious, hardworking and keen to build a serious long-term career in one of the fastest-growing areas of legal practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with legal research, advisory work and regulatory analysis in relation to fintech, digital assets, data protection, TMT, IP and technology-related laws.
  • Supporting the team in the drafting and review of technology-related contracts, including technology services agreements, software agreements, platform terms, licensing agreements, outsourcing arrangements, collaboration agreements and data processing agreements.
  • Assisting with personal data protection compliance projects, including privacy notices, data protection policies, gap analysis reports, data breach response and regulatory notifications.
  • Supporting fintech and regulatory matters involving financial technology, digital assets, payments, lending, blockchain, tokenisation and other emerging technology models.
  • Assisting in client meetings, regulatory engagements, legal opinions, proposals, articles and other thought leadership initiatives.
  • Managing workstreams with attention to detail, strong follow-up and a high sense of ownership.

Key Requirements:

  • 2–3 years’ post-qualification experience, preferably with exposure to corporate, commercial, technology, fintech, IP, data protection or regulatory work.
  • A law degree from a reputable university, ideally with at least a Second Upper / 2:1 or equivalent academic result.
  • Strong legal research, drafting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • A genuine interest in technology, fintech, personal data protection, TMT and IP.
  • Strong work ethic, resilience and willingness to work extremely hard.
  • High sense of responsibility, ownership and accountability.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to work well in a team.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is not merely seeking a job, but someone who wants to build a strong legal career in technology law.

The right candidate should be intellectually curious, commercially minded, disciplined and prepared to take ownership of his or her work. Prior experience in fintech, personal data protection, TMT or IP would be helpful, but the most important qualities are strong fundamentals, good attitude, willingness to learn and the ability to work hard consistently.

Application Submission Requirements

Malaysian Citizens who meet the above criteria are invited to apply with a comprehensive curriculum vitae, details of achievements, credentials, membership records of professional institutions, employment history, supporting testimonials, and expected remuneration.

All applications will be duly acknowledged, but only shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview.
