The role

We are hiring a Junior QA Engineer to make sure every release is accurate and reliable before it reaches schools and families. Our product handles money, so correctness matters. You will work directly with product and engineering, and your findings will shape what we fix and build next. This role offers hands-on technical experience, exposure to AI-assisted testing, and a clear path into test automation.

Responsibilities

• Test new features and regressions across our school and parent-facing platforms before release, covering edge cases and failure scenarios as well as the happy path
• Verify that financial workflows are accurate end to end, including negative and boundary testing on amounts, dates and duplicate submissions
• Test APIs with tools such as Postman, checking responses, status codes, validation and error handling
• Write SQL queries to validate data integrity and confirm records match across the system
• Investigate issues using browser developer tools and application logs, and give developers precise diagnostic detail
• Test across browsers, devices and user roles, with particular attention to mobile experience and access control
• Write and maintain test plans, test cases and regression suites, and automate repetitive checks over time using tools such as Playwright, Cypress or Selenium
• Log and track defects with clear reproduction steps and severity, then verify fixes and retest related areas
• Use AI tools to draft test cases, generate test data, analyse logs and write clearer bug reports, while validating everything they produce and never entering real customer or financial data
• Support staging verification and release sign-off, and raise risks or unclear requirements early

Requirements

• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing
• Comfort working with numbers and checking that they add up
• Understanding of the software testing lifecycle and core testing techniques
• Basic understanding of how web applications, APIs and databases work
• Comfort using AI tools in your work, with the judgement to check their output critically
• Clear written communication
• Willingness to learn, take feedback and own your work

Preferred, not required

• Prior QA experience, internship or personal testing projects
• Working knowledge of SQL and API testing tools
• Exposure to test automation frameworks and a scripting language such as JavaScript, TypeScript or Python
• Experience using AI tools for testing, coding or analysis
• Familiarity with Git and bug tracking tools such as Jira
• Interest in fintech, payments or education technology
