Role Description The Food Service Steward is a full-time, on-site role based at Columbia Asia Hospital in Johor Bahru. The individual in this position supports the hospital’s food service operations, including preparing, portioning, and serving meals according to dietary guidelines and hygiene standards. Daily responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness of kitchen, pantry, and food storage areas; washing and sanitizing dishes, utensils, and equipment; and assisting in receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies. The Food Service Steward works closely with the nursing and clinical teams to ensure timely and accurate meal delivery to patients, visitors, and staff, while adhering to infection control, safety, and quality procedures. The role also involves supporting food service supervisors during busy periods, following standard operating procedures, and contributing to a courteous and service-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Strong Customer Service skills with a focus on patient and visitor satisfaction.
• Effective Communication abilities to coordinate with dietary, nursing, and kitchen teams.
• Knowledge of Food & Beverage operations, including basic food handling, hygiene, and safety.
• Hands-on experience in Food Service, preferably in healthcare, hospitality, or institutional settings.
• Willingness to participate in Training related to food safety, infection control, and hospital procedures.
• Ability to follow instructions, work in shifts, and manage physical tasks such as standing for long periods and lifting light to moderate loads.
• Attention to detail and adherence to cleanliness, sanitation, and quality standards.
• Basic education level (secondary school or equivalent) required; additional certificates in food handling or hospitality are an advantage.
• Team-oriented mindset, reliability, and a caring attitude aligned with Columbia Asia’s values.
