Job Summary:
An established global agricultural commodities trading and processing group is looking for a
Head of Market Risk
to lead and elevate its enterprise market risk management function.
In this pivotal leadership position, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and overseeing an end-to-end market risk strategy across global trading desks. Working closely with commercial units and executive leadership, you will convert market volatility into a strategic advantage while maintaining robust risk controls.
This role reports directly to the Head of Risk Management, with high-level exposure to senior executive leadership and the Board.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of enterprise-wide market risk policies, exposure limits, and control frameworks across all trading activities.
Establish and execute a systematic program to identify, quantify, evaluate, and mitigate market risk exposures across physical and financial trading operations.
Deliver regular, actionable risk insights and strategic reporting to governance committees and senior leadership regarding major exposures and mitigation strategies.
Partner actively with trading desks and commercial leaders to embed risk-aware decision-making into core commercial strategies, deal structures, and operational processes.
Ensure trading operations adhere strictly to internal risk mandates, regulatory obligations, and contractual risk requirements.
Foster a proactive, risk-aware culture across the organization, offering expert direction on market risk parameters, stress testing, and portfolio sensitivity.
Requirements:
Minimum 10–15 years of hands-on market risk management experience within the global agricultural commodities sector (e.g., edible oils, palm oil, softs, grains, or bulk agris).
Deep technical proficiency in derivative markets, futures, options, hedging mechanisms, and physical/financial portfolio risk dynamics.
Degree in Finance, Financial Engineering, Economics, Risk Management, or a related quantitative discipline.
Proven track record of leading functions and influencing multidisciplinary stakeholders across trading, finance, and executive management.
Exceptional analytical capabilities with the judgment to translate complex risk metrics into practical business outcomes in fast-paced trading environments.
