Job Title: Senior Piping (Stress) Engineer
Permanent/Contract: Contract
Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
This opportunity is focused on piping stress analysis for a major offshore floating production facility project, supporting detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities. The role offers exposure to complex offshore oil & gas systems, including process, utility, flare, and offsite piping, with a strong emphasis on engineering integrity, safety, and compliance. This position will suit professionals with strong CAESAR II capability and proven experience across FPSO or offshore production facility environments.
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline
Required Experience
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in piping stress analysis and piping engineering
- Prior experience as a Senior Piping Engineer in offshore oil & gas projects
- Strong experience in FPSO, floating facilities, offshore platforms, or major EPC/EPCI projects
- Demonstrated experience in the detailed engineering phase
- Experience supporting fabrication yards, installation, offshore hook-up, or commissioning activities
- Ability to demonstrate project involvement with specific responsibilities and achievements
Required Skills
- Proficiency in CAESAR II for piping stress analysis
- Ability to develop and review piping stress models for process, utility, flare, and offsite systems
- Experience evaluating piping systems for thermal expansion, sustained loads, occasional loads, transportation loads, and operating conditions
- Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, API standards, NORSOK standards, ISO standards, and project-specific specifications
- Knowledge of pipe support design principles and ability to review support drawings, stress isometrics, and engineering deliverables
- Ability to assess equipment nozzle loads for static and rotating equipment
- Experience reviewing vendor documentation and incorporating piping stress requirements into design
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills within multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams
- Ability to manage priorities, meet project deadlines, and maintain a high standard of engineering quality
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of AutoPIPE and other stress analysis tools
- Experience working with international engineering contractors or consultancy environments
- Knowledge of fatigue assessment and vibration analysis
- FPSO topsides engineering design experience
- Detailed engineering experience for offshore production facilities
- Exposure to large-scale international offshore EPC/EPCI projects
