The College of Integrative Studies (CIS) at Singapore Management University (SMU) invites applications for part-time instructors with a track record in excellent teaching at the tertiary level to teach The Human Edge: Attention, Mind, and Moral Agency in the Age of AI. This course develops the foundational inner capacities every SMU graduate needs to engage with AI as an empowered, self-aware professional rather than a passive user. Drawing on cognitive neuroscience, attention science, emotion regulation research, and self-regulation science, students learn to understand both how their own minds work and how AI systems are designed, from a human-centered, non-technical perspective. They learn to recognize how emotional states shape their AI use, how different cognitive modes affect the quality of their thinking and their AI interactions, and how to practice intentional, ethical engagement with AI tools.
Singapore Management University is a research university committed to an interdisciplinary and integrated curriculum. Undergraduate classes are capped at 48 students.
Interested applicants should apply via SMU Career site providing a cover letter; CV; evidence of previous teaching feedback and two references.
The positions are open to scholars in the management, technology, humanities and social sciences.
