Hiring: Senior Backup Engineer – L3

Experience: 5+ Years in Backup Technologies

Contract: 12 Months (Extendable)

Level: Mid Level

We are looking for an experienced Senior Backup Engineer – L3 to provide engineering and operational support for enterprise backup infrastructure. The role will focus on backup operations, infrastructure implementation and migration, troubleshooting recurring backup failures, and ensuring reliable data protection across large-scale environments.

• Provide L3 engineering and operational support for enterprise backup infrastructure

• Manage day-to-day backup operations and resolve recurring backup failures

• Configure, deploy, and maintain backup solutions using Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, Cohesity, or Commvault

• Manage large-scale, multi-petabyte backup environments

• Set up and administer disk backup appliances such as Veritas Appliances, Dell Data Domain, and ExaGrid

• Configure and support NetBackup and Veeam components, including master/media servers and proxies

• Support backup infrastructure migration, upgrades, implementation, and optimization projects

• Develop and maintain backup procedures, SOPs, technical documentation, and operational guidelines

• Monitor backup performance and capacity using Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics, Veeam ONE, Cohesity, or Commvault tools

• Troubleshoot complex backup, restore, replication, and data protection issues

• Support tape backup operations and associated procedures

• Collaborate with technical teams and project leadership to deliver critical infrastructure projects

• Work with storage, database, and infrastructure teams to ensure effective backup and recovery operations

• Support service improvement, incident management, and problem resolution activities

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with at least one major backup technology: Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, Cohesity, or Commvault

• Experience managing large-scale, multi-petabyte backup infrastructure

• Strong knowledge of backup and recovery processes, procedures, and best practices

• Hands-on experience setting up and managing disk backup appliances such as Veritas Appliances, Dell Data Domain, or ExaGrid

• Experience configuring NetBackup and Veeam infrastructure components, including master/media servers and proxies

• Experience with backup monitoring and analytics tools such as NetBackup IT Analytics, Veeam ONE, Cohesity, or Commvault

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision

• Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, collaboration, and project coordination skills

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience

Good to Have:

• Experience migrating backup infrastructure

• Knowledge of tapeless backup technologies and object storage, including Dell ECS, Hitachi HCP, and Cohesity

• Experience with enterprise storage technologies such as EMC and Pure Storage

• Knowledge of Zerto, EMC RecoverPoint, and storage replication technologies

• Understanding of database technologies such as Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, and IBM DB2, including database replication

• Experience with tape management and backup procedures
