We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Malaysian Chief Engineer to join our fleet of Oil/Chemical Bunker Tankers operating in Singapore and surrounding waters. The Chief Engineer will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation and maintenance of all machinery and systems on board, ensuring the vessel's operational readiness and adherence to international maritime regulations. This pivotal role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and environmental protection.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all engineering operations, including main propulsion, auxiliary machinery, cargo systems, and electrical systems.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all engine room machinery and equipment, adhering to company policies and international maritime regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, ISM Code).
  • Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive planned maintenance system (PMS) for all engineering equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Conduct regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs of all machinery, including engines, pumps, purifiers, boilers, and cargo handling equipment.
  • Manage the engineering department budget, including spare parts procurement, inventory control, and cost-effective operational strategies.
  • Lead, train, and supervise the engine room crew, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all classification society rules and statutory requirements, maintaining all necessary certificates and documentation.
  • Oversee bunker operations, including quantity and quality checks, and ensure proper handling and storage of fuel and lubricants.
  • Implement and enforce robust safety and environmental protection procedures, including oil pollution prevention and waste management.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies, including machinery breakdowns, fires, and pollution incidents, taking charge of damage control and repair efforts.
  • Prepare and submit accurate reports on machinery performance, maintenance activities, and departmental expenditures to shore management.
  • Collaborate closely with the Master and other department heads to ensure overall vessel operational efficiency and safety.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into any machinery failures or incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
