In this role, you will participate in a structured 24-month rotational development programme within Engineering Services at the Tuas site. The programme provides hands-on experience across Energy Engineering, Maintenance Engineering and Topic 6.2, with approximately eight months in each area.

You will work with Engineering Services, Operations, Quality, Automation, Reliability, Safety, Environmental and other cross-functional stakeholders to support safe, reliable, compliant and cost-effective site operations in a regulated biomedical manufacturing environment.

This position is offered as a 24-month fixed-term direct employment contract with MSD under the Biomedical Manufacturing Career Conversion Programme. Upon successful completion of the programme, participants may be considered for permanent opportunities within Engineering Services, subject to individual performance, business needs and the availability of suitable positions. Conversion is not guaranteed.

Rotation sequence, duration, assignments and responsibilities are planned based on developmental objectives. However, changes may be made to meet business priorities, project requirements, organisational changes and Engineering Services resource needs.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Rotational Engineering Development

•  Participate in three planned rotations covering Energy Engineering, Maintenance Engineering and Topic 6.2, with approximately eight months in each rotation.

•  Complete assigned technical, operational, project and improvement activities under the guidance of the relevant rotation lead or subject-matter expert.

•  Develop practical knowledge of Engineering Services processes, site equipment, quality systems, safety requirements and business priorities.

•  Maintain agreed learning objectives, development milestones, technical records and progress updates throughout the programme.

•  Prepare and present findings, recommendations, project updates and lessons learned at agreed programme milestones.

•  Support effective handover of ongoing work when transitioning between rotations and apply learning across the three areas.

Energy Engineering

•  Support the site energy sustainability and energy efficiency programme in alignment with applicable site, global and Singapore requirements.

•  Compile, validate and analyse utility, energy and equipment-performance data to identify wastage, inefficiencies, risks and improvement opportunities.

•  Support energy audits, opportunity assessments, option evaluations, savings calculations and preparation of technical recommendations.

•  Support the site computerised energy monitoring system and the monitoring and reporting of key energy-performance indicators.

•  Track energy conservation projects, implementation progress, costs, savings, benefits, risks and mitigation actions.

•  Support utility budgeting, consumption forecasting and the development of annual and longer-term energy-efficiency initiatives.

•  Coordinate with Engineering Services, Operations and other stakeholders during implementation of assigned energy projects while minimising impact to manufacturing operations.

•  Promote energy awareness and good energy-management practices across the site.

•  Engage internal subject-matter experts, other sites and vendors to evaluate proven and emerging energy-conservation technologies.

•  Support assigned projects to achieve safety, quality, budget and schedule requirements.

Maintenance Engineering

•  Support the planning, execution and close-out of preventive maintenance and calibration activities for assigned electrical, instrumentation, utility or production-support equipment.

•  Assist with equipment start-up, shutdown, servicing, inspection, troubleshooting, basic testing and qualification activities, where applicable.

•  Support Quality Notifications, deviations and equipment-related investigations by gathering information, providing technical input and following up assigned corrective and preventive actions.

•  Participate in Engineering Services plant shutdown activities, including work preparation, coordination, execution tracking and post-shutdown follow-up.

•  Apply cGMP principles and Good Documentation Practices in the execution and documentation of maintenance activities.

•  Support reliability-based maintenance programmes, review equipment-performance trends and contribute to improvements in reliability, maintainability, safety, cost-effectiveness and work-execution efficiency.

•  Support efforts to reduce equipment downtime, repeat failures, maintenance backlog, waste and operational inefficiencies.

•  Work with Operations, Quality, Automation, Engineering, Integrated Facilities Management, contractors and vendors to complete assigned activities safely, compliantly and within agreed timelines.

•  Maintain applicable maintenance procedures, job aids, calibration documents and technical records.

Topic 6.2

•  Support deployment and implementation activities related to Topic 6.2.

•  Assist with QMS assessments, gap analyses and action tracking.

•  Support SOP review, revision and document approval workflows.

•  Compile, analyse and present data to support project objectives and compliance activities.

•  Prepare progress updates, reports and presentation materials.

•  Collaborate with Quality, Engineering Services and cross-functional stakeholders to achieve programme milestones.

Safety, Health and Environment

•  Maintain a strong safety mindset and comply with applicable site safety procedures and standards.

•  Participate in safety observations, incident investigations, audits and follow-up actions where assigned.

•  Support timely completion of task-based risk assessments and other applicable engineering risk assessments.

•  Verify that applicable permit-to-work, isolation and lockout/tagout controls are in place before maintenance work begins.

•  Identify and communicate opportunities to improve workplace safety and environmental performance and escalate unsafe conditions promptly.

Quality and Compliance

•  Perform assigned work in accordance with applicable cGMP requirements, site procedures and Good Documentation Practices.

•  Maintain accurate, complete, traceable and audit-ready engineering records.

•  Support review and maintenance of SOPs, job aids, maintenance instructions and other controlled documents.

•  Support investigations into equipment-related deviations or atypical events when assigned.

•  Complete required compliance and technical training within prescribed timelines and escalate potential quality or compliance concerns promptly.

People Excellence
