Raffleson Academy is seeking a knowledgeable and engaging IB Economics Teacher to teach students preparing for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) Economics – Standard Level (SL).

We are looking for a teacher who can explain economic concepts clearly, help students develop strong analytical and evaluation skills, and prepare them effectively for IB assessments and examinations.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach IBDP Economics Standard Level students in small-group or individual classes.

• Deliver structured lessons aligned with the IB Economics syllabus.

• Teach key areas including:

  • Introduction to Economics

  • Microeconomics

  • Macroeconomics

  • The Global Economy

• Develop students’ ability to apply economic theories to real-world situations.

• Train students in data-response and essay-writing techniques.

• Guide students in using diagrams, economic terminology and chains of analysis effectively.

• Provide clear instruction on evaluation and higher-order economic reasoning.

• Prepare students for internal and external assessments.

• Mark assignments, essays, tests and examination papers and provide constructive feedback.

• Monitor students’ academic progress and identify areas requiring improvement.

• Prepare or adapt lesson materials, worksheets and practice questions where necessary.

• Work with the academic team to support curriculum planning and student development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Education or a relevant discipline.

• Strong knowledge of Economics at pre-university level.

• Good command of written and spoken English.

• Able to explain complex economic concepts in a clear and structured manner.

• Strong analytical and essay-writing skills.

• Responsible, punctual and committed to students' academic progress.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with the following will have an advantage:

• Previous experience teaching IBDP Economics.

• Familiarity with the current IB Economics syllabus and assessment structure.

• Experience preparing students for IB Economics examinations.

• Experience marking or teaching IB-style essays and data-response questions.

• IB training, workshop participation or relevant teaching certification.

• Experience teaching students from international schools.

Teachers currently teaching at international schools, former international school teachers, experienced tutors and university lecturers are welcome to apply.

Employment Type

Part-Time

Classes may be conducted on weekdays after school hours and/or weekends, depending on student schedules.
