Funeral Assistant (Operations)

Looking for a meaningful, hands-on career where your work makes a real difference to families?

We are seeking responsible and compassionate individuals to support the smooth delivery of funeral services. This is an operational role involving funeral preparation, logistics and on-site support.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist with the transfer of deceased persons from residences, hospitals, nursing homes and other locations to designated facilities.
• Support the preparation and arrangement of funeral services to ensure proceedings run smoothly.
• Place and prepare caskets at funeral parlours, chapels and wake locations.
• Assist with the setup and arrangement of funeral equipment, floral offerings, lighting and other service requirements.
• Assist Funeral Directors during funeral services and processions.
• Guide and assist family members and mourners at funeral locations when required.
• Perform pallbearer duties during funeral services.
• Assist with the issuance, collection, storage and maintenance of funeral equipment.
• Support documentation and administrative arrangements relating to burial, cremation, repatriation and death registration where required.
• Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of funeral facilities, vehicles and equipment.
• Carry out other operational duties required to support funeral services.

Requirements

• Comfortable working within the funeral and bereavement services industry.
• Able to remain professional, respectful and composed when dealing with sensitive situations and grieving families.
• Comfortable performing hands-on and physically demanding duties, including assisting with transfers and handling funeral equipment.
