About HWA Floral Design

HWA Floral Design is a premium floral design company specialising in bespoke floral arrangements, luxury gifting, corporate floral services, weddings, and events.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Florist Team Lead to oversee our floral production team, maintain exceptional design standards, and ensure the smooth execution of daily floral operations.

This is a Full Time Position on a Tuesday - Saturday Fixed Roster.

The ideal candidate is not only an accomplished floral designer but also a capable leader who can manage, train, and inspire a team while maintaining operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

1. Floral Design & Quality Control

• Lead by example in creating high-quality floral arrangements that reflect HWA's design aesthetics and brand standards.
• Oversee the production of bouquets, floral arrangements, installations, and event florals.
• Ensure consistency in floral design, colour coordination, composition, finishing, and presentation.
• Conduct final quality checks before arrangements are dispatched or installed.
• Provide creative direction and technical guidance to junior and senior florists.
• Develop and refine floral designs, techniques, and production standards.

2. Team Leadership & Management

• Supervise and manage the daily activities of the floral production team.
• Delegate assignments according to individual skill levels, workload, and production priorities.
• Monitor team productivity, performance, and adherence to deadlines.
• Train and mentor florists to improve their technical abilities, creativity, and efficiency.
• Identify performance gaps and provide constructive feedback.
• Foster a positive, disciplined, and collaborative working environment.
• Assist management with staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and recruitment.

3. Daily Operations & Production Planning

• Oversee daily production schedules to ensure all customer orders are completed accurately and on time.
• Coordinate with customer service and sales teams to ensure order specifications are clearly communicated and fulfilled.
• Plan manpower allocation and production workflows, particularly during peak periods.
• Prioritise urgent orders while maintaining consistent quality across all arrangements.
• Ensure proper preparation and organisation of materials, tools, and workstations.
• Troubleshoot production issues and resolve operational challenges independently.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised floral production environment.

4. Inventory, Flower Care & Cost Management

• Monitor the quality, freshness, and condition of incoming flowers and foliage.
• Oversee proper flower conditioning, storage, handling, and stock rotation.
• Manage floral inventory to minimise spoilage, damage, and unnecessary wastage.
• Ensure flower and material usage remains within established costing guidelines.
• Coordinate purchasing requirements and stock replenishment with the relevant team.
• Implement improvements to production efficiency and cost control without compromising design quality.

5. Events & Corporate Floral Operations

• Lead floral production and preparation for weddings, corporate events, hotel arrangements, and large-scale installations.
• Supervise on-site floral installations, ensuring accuracy, safety, and timely completion.
• Coordinate manpower, materials, and logistics for event setups and dismantling.
• Ensure all floral work complies with client specifications and HWA's quality standards.
• Manage last-minute changes and operational challenges professionally.

6. Process Improvement & Accountability

• Develop and enforce standard operating procedures for floral production and quality control.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflow, reduce errors, and increase team productivity.
• Ensure proper accountability for floral quality, material usage, and production deadlines.
• Report operational issues, team performance concerns, and improvement recommendations to management.

Requirements

• Previous experience supervising or leading a floral production team is strongly preferred.
• Excellent technical floristry skills with a strong portfolio demonstrating versatility and creativity.
• Experience in retail floristry, weddings, events, and large-scale floral installations.
• Strong understanding of floral costing, inventory management, and flower care.
• Ability to manage multiple orders, deadlines, and competing priorities.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and make operational decisions.
• Willingness to work during peak floral seasons, weekends, and major events when required.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Performance will be evaluated based on:

• Floral Quality: Consistent delivery of arrangements meeting HWA's design and quality standards.
• Team Productivity: Efficient allocation of manpower and timely completion of daily orders.
• Cost Efficiency: Effective management of flower usage, wastage, and production costs.
• Order Accuracy: Minimal production errors, customer complaints, and reworks.
• Team Development: Measurable improvements in the team's technical skills, independence, and productivity.
• Operational Reliability: Smooth execution of daily floral operations and large-scale events with minimal management intervention.

Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM7,500.00 per month
