Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Modeller to design, review and optimise enterprise-scale data models supporting data warehousing, business intelligence and advanced analytics. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in dimensional modelling, enterprise data warehouse design, modern cloud analytics platforms and data governance.

The candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, solution architects and analytics teams to develop scalable, high-quality data models aligned with enterprise data architecture and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Data Modelling

• Design and review conceptual, logical and physical data models.
• Develop and maintain enterprise data modelling standards and best practices.
• Design scalable data structures to support reporting, analytics and self-service data consumption.
• Ensure consistency and integration across business domains.

Data Warehouse Design & Optimisation

• Design and review enterprise data warehouses and data marts.
• Evaluate existing data models and vendor-delivered designs, identifying gaps, redundancies and optimisation opportunities.
• Support data warehouse modernisation and transformation initiatives.
• Recommend improvements to data structures, data loading efficiency, partitioning and query performance.

Dimensional Modelling

• Apply Star Schema and Snowflake Schema design principles.
• Design fact tables, dimension tables and Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD).
• Ensure data models support efficient reporting and analytical requirements.

Modern Data Platforms

• Support data modelling across cloud data warehouses, data lakes and lakehouse environments.
• Work with platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Synapse Analytics or equivalent technologies.
• Collaborate with data engineering and architecture teams to align models with modern data architecture patterns.

BI, Analytics & Data Governance

• Develop data models that support Power BI, Tableau, Qlik or Looker environments.
• Support semantic modelling, KPI standardisation and self-service analytics.
• Promote data quality, data lineage, metadata management and master data management practices.
• Maintain data dictionaries and modelling documentation.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with business users, data engineers, solution architects and analytics teams.
• Conduct data modelling workshops and design reviews.
• Present modelling recommendations and support current-state assessments, gap analysis and future-state design initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data warehousing, analytics and data modelling.
• Strong hands-on experience in dimensional modelling, Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, fact and dimension modelling, and SCD.
• Proven experience in conceptual, logical and physical data modelling.
• Experience designing enterprise data warehouses and data marts.
• Experience reviewing, assessing and improving existing data warehouse designs.
• Knowledge of data integration concepts and enterprise data architecture.
• Experience with at least one modern analytics platform, such as Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake or an equivalent platform.
• Understanding of data lake and lakehouse concepts.
• Knowledge of BI semantic modelling and analytics consumption patterns.
• Understanding of data governance, data lineage, metadata management and data quality frameworks.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation and stakeholder communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in banking, financial services, insurance or other large enterprise environments.
• Experience with the Azure data ecosystem, including Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL, Databricks and Microsoft Purview.
• Exposure to Informatica or master data management solutions.
• Experience working with external vendors, system integrators and enterprise data transformation programmes.

What We Are Looking For

A technically strong data modelling professional who can independently assess existing data warehouse designs, recommend improvements and deliver scalable enterprise data models that support business intelligence, reporting and analytics.

Pay: RM6,500.00 - RM14,000.00 per month
