Role Description

This role maintains the accuracy of the general ledger and supports timely financial close and reporting. It works with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other finance teams to ensure transactions are recorded in the correct accounts and periods, reconcile balances, and resolve discrepancies.

The General Ledger Analyst prepares journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, investigates unusual movements, and documents findings. The General Ledger Specialist handles complex accruals, intercompany balances, and fixed asset accounting, and resolves issues that delay the close. The General Ledger Manager oversees the close calendar, reviews significant journals and reconciliations, and coordinates with reporting teams and auditors to ensure balances are supported and ready for review.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in general ledger accounting, record-to-report operations, or financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of double-entry accounting, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ability to investigate reconciling items, trace discrepancies to source transactions, and document adjustments.
• Experience with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation.
• Proficiency in Excel and experience with an enterprise resource planning system such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Familiarity with applicable accounting standards, financial controls, and approval procedures.
• For specialist roles, experience resolving complex accounting issues across entities or business units.
• For manager roles, experience leading a close cycle, reviewing team output, and coordinating audit requests. A professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, or CA is preferred.
