Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate to join an active research group focusing on cardiovascular genomics, epigenomics, and the molecular mechanisms of heart failure. The successful candidate will investigate structural and functional genes (such as SYNPO2L) implicated in cardiomyopathies and heart failure, utilizing advanced cellular, molecular, and genomic techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experimental workflows involving cellular and molecular biology to study cardiovascular disease mechanisms.
  • Work with human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CMs) and animal or cellular models to assess sarcomeric structure, contractility, and electro-mechanical properties.
  • Perform molecular assays including RNA sequencing, Co-IP, Western blotting, immunofluorescence confocal microscopy, and genetic variant functional validation.
  • Analyze high-throughput omics datasets (genomic, transcriptomic, or epigenomic) in collaboration with computational biologists.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, present findings at scientific conferences, and contribute to grant proposals.
  • Assist in lab management, maintenance of equipment, and mentoring junior staff or students.

Qualifications

  • M.Sc. in a relevant scientific discipline with strong practical research experience.
  • Proven hands-on laboratory experience in molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning, Western blot, immunofluorescence) and cell culture. Experience working with cardiomyocytes or muscle biology is a strong advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to independently manage projects and troubleshoot experiments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with a demonstrated ability to write scientific reports or publications.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
