Job Summary

Teach systematic English phonics and early literacy to children aged 3 to 7, prepare engaging lesson materials, assess learning progress, communicate with parents, and maintain a clean, safe learning environment.

Responsibilities

- Deliver systematic English phonics and early literacy lessons to children aged 3 to 7, ensuring clear articulation of the 44 English phonemes without schwa sounds

- Prepare and organize lesson materials, reading cards, and interactive games to support engaging learning experiences

- Assess and document each child's reading level and learning milestones to tailor instruction effectively

- Communicate children’s progress to parents with honesty, specificity, and professionalism to foster collaboration

- Support English open classes and trial lessons by assisting with lesson delivery and student engagement

- Maintain, clean, and sanitise classroom learning tools and materials daily to ensure a safe and hygienic environment

Required Competencies and Certifications

- Demonstrate near-native English proficiency in written and spoken forms, with clear articulation, as assessed during interview

- Model the 44 English phonemes as pure sounds without adding a schwa (e.g., /t/, not "tuh")

- Hold a bachelor's degree in English, Education, Linguistics, Early Childhood, or a related field

- Possess direct experience teaching English literacy and phonics to children aged 3 to 7

- Clear reference and background checks and sign the Child Protection Declaration

- Must hold valid eligibility to work in Singapore (Singapore Citizen or PR)

Preferred Competencies and Qualifications

- Professional training in a systematic synthetic phonics programme (e.g., Jolly Phonics, Letterland, Read Write Inc., Sounds-Write, or equivalent)

- CELT-P, Trinity CertTESOL, or CELTA with Young Learners extension
