JOB DESCRIPTION

Coherent Corp. is seeking an experienced Demand Planner to support the Transport and Transmission organizations at our Penang manufacturing site. This role will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving demand forecasts for telecommunications products using Oracle Cloud Supply Chain Planning as the primary planning platform, translating market and customer requirements into a reliable supply-chain plan, and partnering closely with Sales, Product Management, Operations, Supply Planning, and Finance.

The successful candidate will bring strong analytical and communication skills, practical experience in demand planning within a manufacturing environment, and proven ability to use enterprise planning systems to improve forecast quality, planning discipline, data integrity, and cross-functional alignment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain statistical and consensus demand forecasts for Transport and Transmission products in Oracle Cloud Supply Chain Planning.
  • Consolidate demand inputs from Sales, Product Management, Customer Service, and regional business teams into the Oracle Cloud planning process.
  • Analyze historical demand, customer orders, shipment trends, backlog, inventory, market conditions, and product life-cycle information.
  • Lead the monthly demand-planning process in Oracle Cloud Supply Chain Planning and contribute to the S&OP/SIOP cycle.
  • Identify forecast risks, demand changes, supply constraints, and potential gaps between customer requirements and manufacturing capacity.
  • Partner with Supply Planning and Operations to align demand forecasts with production plans, material availability, and capacity.
  • Monitor forecast accuracy, forecast bias, order-book coverage, demand volatility, and other key planning metrics.
  • Investigate forecast variances and implement actions to improve forecast quality and planning effectiveness.
  • Support new product introductions, product transitions, engineering changes, end-of-life planning, and customer ramp schedules.
  • Maintain demand-planning master data, planning parameters, product hierarchies, forecasting assumptions, and system inputs within Oracle Cloud Supply Chain Planning.
  • Provide clear reporting and recommendations to management regarding demand trends, risks, opportunities, and required actions.
  • Coordinate with global factories, procurement, logistics, and commercial teams to ensure consistent demand visibility.
  • Support shortage reviews, allocation decisions, customer prioritization, and recovery planning when demand exceeds available supply.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and analytical reports using Oracle Cloud reporting capabilities, Power BI, and other business-intelligence tools; use Excel primarily for supplemental analysis rather than as the primary planning system.
  • Promote continuous improvement in forecasting processes, data quality, Oracle Cloud planning-system adoption, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Perform other planning and business-analysis activities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Business, Analytics, or a related field.
  • Approximately 5–8 years of experience in demand planning, supply planning, S&OP, or supply-chain analysis.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably telecommunications, electronics, semiconductors, photonics, optical communications, or another technology-intensive industry.
  • Demonstrated experience developing forecasts and managing demand-planning processes across multiple products, customers, or regions.
  • Strong knowledge of S&OP/SIOP principles, forecasting methods, inventory planning, and supply-chain fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Supply Chain Planning, Oracle Demand Management, or comparable enterprise planning applications; Oracle Cloud experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to configure, maintain, and improve planning inputs, forecast profiles, item/customer hierarchies, exception messages, and planning outputs within an enterprise planning system.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex planning-system data and convert it into clear business recommendations.
  • Strong Excel skills for ad hoc analysis, validation, and reporting support; planning experience should be centered on enterprise planning tools rather than spreadsheet-based processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and international teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience deploying, adopting, or improving Oracle Cloud Supply Chain Planning processes across demand planning, supply planning, or S&OP/SIOP workflows.
  • Experience supporting telecommunications, optical-transceiver, networking, datacom, or high-mix electronics products.
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, Oracle analytics, or other data-analysis and visualization tools that complement enterprise planning-system outputs.
  • Experience supporting new product introductions, product life-cycle management, and engineering-change processes.
  • Familiarity with customer backlog management, constrained demand, allocation, and capacity planning.
  • Experience working with global manufacturing sites and Asia-based supply-chain operations.
  • APICS/CPIM, CSCP, or comparable supply-chain certification.

Key Competencies

  • Oracle Cloud Supply Chain Planning and demand forecasting
  • S&OP/SIOP process management
  • Manufacturing and supply-chain planning
  • Enterprise planning-system adoption, data governance, and process discipline
  • Data interpretation and decision support
  • Cross-functional communication
  • Risk identification and mitigation
  • Continuous improvement
  • Ownership, accountability, and attention to detail

Success in This Role

Success will be measured by the quality and reliability of the Transport and Transmission demand forecasts, effective adoption and disciplined use of Oracle Cloud Supply Chain Planning, improved visibility of customer and market requirements, effective collaboration with manufacturing and commercial teams, timely identification of demand risks, and measurable improvement in forecast accuracy, bias, planning responsiveness, and planning-system data quality.
