1. Pre-Contract / Tender Stage: Take-off quantities from Civil / Structural drawings (earthwork, rebar, concrete, formwork, piling, road works)Prepare Bill of Quantities (BQ) as per SMM2 / CESMMPrepare cost estimate and budget for tender submissionSend enquiry to suppliers & subcontractors for quotation comparisonPrepare tender documents and submission on time
2. Post-Contract / Project Stage: Prepare monthly progress claims and follow up payment from Main Con / ClientEvaluate and certify subcontractor progress claimsPrepare and submit Variation Order (VO) claims with supporting documentsMonitor project cost vs budget - prepare cost report every monthMeasure site works and verify with site engineer
3. Civil Works Specific: Calculation for: Excavation & backfilling, Piling (RC / Micropile), Rebar & Concrete, Formwork, Drain & Sewer, Road sub-base & premix, Retaining wall, Slope protectionCheck and verify reinforcement BBS (Bar Bending Schedule)Coordinate with LTA / PUB / HDB requirements if needed
4. Final Account & Closing: Prepare final account for client and subcontractorsMaintain all QS documents, invoices, and correspondenceHandle EOT and contractual claimsSoftware must know:
AutoCAD, MS Excel (Vlookup, Pivot), CostX / Glodon Cubicost / Bluebeam, MS Project (basic)
