Are you a maker who loves fixing things? Motion Art Space, an art space on Arab Street, is looking for a hands-on, maker-type part-time technician to keep our spin-art machines running.

Our spinners are simple: a plywood base and frame, a small DC motor, a switch, a battery or power supply, and ball bearings. We are looking for someone to fix loose wires, wood wearing out and keep the spinners staying fixed.

Some background of people who could be suitable for the job. People who build sets, booths or props for events, work as a stagehand or production crew, do exhibition or installation setups, or tinker with electronics and woodwork in your spare time. If you're the person who makes things work behind the scenes, and you enjoy building and fixing stuff, we'd like to chat, even if you've never had a "technician" title.

What you'll do

• Diagnose and repair spinners: DC motors, wiring, switches, connectors and power
• Re-solder and tidy loose or worn wiring, and replace motors and bearings
• Repair, reinforce or rebuild plywood parts, and seal them against paint and wear
• Do regular checks so problems are caught before a session
• Suggest simple design fixes that make the spinners tougher and easier to clean

You might be a good fit if you

• Are comfortable with basic DC electronics: wiring, soldering, a multimeter
• Can do basic woodwork with hand and power tools
• Have done hands-on build or repair work for events, exhibitions, props, sets, or as a maker or hobbyist
• Work neatly and independently, and don't mind paint and a bit of mess
• Like flexible work: come in whenever suits you, as long as the spinners are ready for sessions. Living near Bugis helps
