Responsibilities

Patient Care & Counselling

• Receive customers, assess symptoms, and provide clear over-the-counter advice or referral to a doctor when needed.
• Review prescriptions for appropriateness and safety, checking doses, allergies, and interactions.
• Deliver concise medication counselling that explains how and when to take medicines and what side effects to watch for.

Dispensing & Compliance

• Prepare and dispense prescription medicines accurately and maintain complete dispensing records in line with regulations.
• Label medications clearly and confirm patient identity before handing out prescriptions to reduce errors.
• Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical laws and store policies, and assist in audits or inspections when required.

Store Operations & Inventory

• Manage stocks using a pharmacy or POS system, perform regular stock counts, and place orders to avoid shortages.
• Receive deliveries, check batch details and expiry dates, and rotate stock to minimise waste.
• Coordinate with suppliers on pricing and lead times and troubleshoot discrepancies to keep shelves stocked.
• Support daily store routines such as opening checks, controlled substance logs, and basic cash handling.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent qualification recognised by the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia.
• Registered pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board and eligible to practise in Malaysia.
• Approximately 2 years of hands-on retail pharmacy experience, including dispensing and patient counselling.
• Familiarity with local pharmacy regulations and basic quality and safety standards.

Hard Skills & Knowledge

• Proven skills in medication dispensation and prescription review with strong attention to dosing and interactions.
• Practical experience managing stocks and inventory systems, including expiry control and reorder processes.
• Comfortable using a pharmacy information system or POS, and basic office software for records and reporting.
• Working knowledge of common chronic disease medicines and over-the-counter treatments.

Soft Skills & Qualities

• Friendly and clear communicator who can greet customers and explain medication instructions in simple terms.
• Detail oriented with a habit of double-checking work to prevent errors and protect patient safety.
• Reliable team player who can supervise assistants, handle retail hours, and adapt to busy periods.
• Professional attitude, good time management, and a willingness to learn and improve pharmacy processes.
