Tanggungjawab

A global advanced materials business is seeking a Business Development Manager for the Energy Sector in APAC, based in Singapore. This role offers you the opportunity to shape the future of energy infrastructure by introducing high-performance engineering thermoplastics, composites, and structural shapes into cutting-edge applications across renewables, hydrogen, LNG, refining, petrochemicals, and power generation. Unlike traditional account management positions, this role focuses on identifying new opportunities and commercialising innovative material solutions that address technical challenges within the energy ecosystem. You will be empowered to build relationships with key industry stakeholders, drive market-entry strategies, and collaborate with expert teams to deliver value-driven solutions. Enjoy flexible working opportunities, generous pension contributions, and access to ongoing training as you grow your career in a supportive and inclusive environment. * This position is uniquely focused on developing and commercialising new applications for engineered plastics and structural materials within the APAC energy sector, offering you the chance to make a tangible impact on renewable energy, hydrogen, LNG, refining, petrochemical, and power generation markets. * You will work closely with regional and global teams to identify emerging opportunities, engage with OEMs, EPC contractors, operators, fabricators, and engineering consultants early in the design process, ensuring advanced material solutions are integrated from concept to commercialisation. * The organisation provides flexible working arrangements, generous pension contributions, and continuous training opportunities within a collaborative culture that values knowledge sharing and professional growth.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve proactively identifying new application areas for engineered thermoplastics and composites within renewables such as wind energy or hydrogen plants as well as traditional sectors like LNG facilities or refineries. You will collaborate extensively with OEMs, EPC contractors, operators, fabricators, engineers, consultants and engage them early in their design processes to ensure your solutions are considered from inception through specification. By translating complex customer requirements into practical material solutions alongside application engineering teams and R&D experts you will help drive innovation while supporting customers through evaluation phases. Your success will be measured by your ability to build a sustainable pipeline of strategic projects across APAC markets while leading commercial proposals that demonstrate clear value propositions. Staying abreast of technological advancements in the sector will enable you to represent the business effectively at industry events while monitoring competitive trends.

  • Identify and prioritise new applications for engineering thermoplastics, composites, and structural shapes across diverse segments of the energy sector including renewables, hydrogen plants, LNG facilities, refineries, petrochemical plants, and power-generation equipment.
  • Develop opportunities by understanding customers’ equipment needs, operating environments, and technical challenges to introduce advanced material solutions that enhance performance and reliability.
  • Take new applications from initial identification through technical evaluation, qualification processes, specification development, and successful commercialisation across APAC markets.
  • Build strong relationships with energy OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), EPC (Engineering Procurement Construction) contractors, fabricators, operators, engineering consultants, and technical specifiers to foster collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Engage engineering and technical stakeholders early in the design phase to ensure advanced materials are considered during specification and selection processes.
  • Identify new customers and applications rather than solely managing an established account portfolio; focus on expanding market reach by developing a sustainable pipeline of strategic projects.
  • Work closely with application engineering teams as well as R&D and product management groups to identify appropriate material solutions tailored to customer requirements.
  • Translate customer operating conditions and technical problems into actionable material and product requirements that support evaluation, testing, qualification, and specification activities.
  • Lead commercial proposals including negotiations and agreements; develop robust business cases for new applications by analysing market potential and customer value propositions.
