Job Title: Data Architect (SAS / Data Warehouse)

Salary: RM7,500 – RM11,000 per month

About the Role
Our client, a well-established organisation in Kuala Lumpur, is looking for a Data Architect to lead the design and delivery of its Enterprise Data Warehouse and analytics solutions. Reporting to the Head of Big Data & Analytics, you will be the technical lead for the Data Engineering team and help ensure the organisation's data is secure, reliable and ready to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead in planning, defining and establishing the Enterprise Data Warehouse architecture, data management processes and analytics solutions, in line with the Enterprise Data Management strategy.
• Lead and manage the Data Engineering team, providing technical direction and support so they deliver secure, consistent and sustainable data solutions.
• Assess, develop and implement new capabilities in Data Management and Data Integration to improve the end-user experience and process efficiency.
• Establish development guidelines, standards and best practices for data management and data pipelines, ensuring performance, stability and extensibility.
• Lead Data Engineering and BI projects: run requirements-gathering sessions with business and technical users, review source system architecture and schemas, and analyse requirements.
• Review technical design documents (integration specifications, data models, data marts, BI reports and dashboard designs) to keep project scope and changes properly documented.
• Oversee support of the Enterprise Data Warehouse, BI reporting and data integration points (internal and external systems), delivering services within SLA to minimise business disruption.
• Guide team performance and foster a high-performance culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in data architecture and data-related roles (Data Warehouse, Data Lake, Data Management and/or Business Intelligence).
• Strong expertise in data warehouse design, data modelling, ETL architecture design and optimisation, performance tuning and solution architecture.
• Strong SAS programming skills (Base SAS, SAS DI Studio, SAS Macro).
• Strong SQL skills (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL or similar).
• Experience designing enterprise ETL and data integration solutions.
• Experience with data governance, data security and data quality frameworks.
• Experience analysing production deployments, improving data quality in a data warehouse and recommending processing optimisations.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex technical topics in business terms.
• Able to lead technical discussions and architecture reviews.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
