Cirrus has 2 sites in Boston and Singapore – this position will be based in our Singapore site.  

Position Overview 

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented and collaborative Scientist with expertise in molecular biology and/or stem cell biology, and preferably ophthalmology/cell/gene therapy to join our team. The successful candidate will contribute to advancing first-in-class preclinical programmes in a dynamic environment and close-knit global team during this traineeship. 

Key Responsibilities 

Research & Development 

• Design, execute, and analyze in vitro and in vivo experiments to support candidate selection and development for cell and gene therapy programs, and generate data packages and reports for program development 
• Develop, optimize and execute molecular biology techniques such as PCR, qRT-PCR, Western blot, immunostaining and cell-based functional assays 
• Contribute to regulatory filings and technical reports 

Collaboration & Communication 

• Work cross-functionally across global sites and programs, able to attend cross-site meetings in some evenings 
• Present research findings at meetings with internal and external parties, engage in robust scientific discussions 

Lab Organization & Management 

• Regularly update detailed electronic laboratory notebook and ensure data integrity 
• Document workflows, technical learnings and project insights for internal continuity and future reference 
• Comply with safety protocols and regulatory guidelines 
• Maintain laboratory inventory and order supplies proactively 

Required Qualifications  

• PhD degree in related biology field  
• Proficiency in aseptic technique, mammalian cell culture and molecular biology fundamentals and techniques are required 
• Proficiency in high throughput assays and/or iPSC culture is/are advantageous 
• Experience in ophthalmology, cell or gene therapy preferred 
• Self-starter with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail 
• Team-first mindset and able to work independently and troubleshoot experimental issues 
• High adaptability and comfortable in a dynamic startup environment 
• Exceptional analytical, written and verbal communication skills
