What you'll do:

• Oversee the full spectrum of finance and accounting operations including month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, key financial schedules, and ensure adherence to applicable accounting standards and company policies.
• Manage inventory accounting, cost of goods sold calculations, fixed assets tracking, and other retail-related financial transactions with precision.
• Lead annual budgeting cycles and periodic forecasting in close collaboration with department heads to align financial plans with business objectives.
• Monitor actual performance against budgeted targets by conducting variance analysis and providing recommendations for improvement to management.
• Analyse sales trends, gross margin movements, operating expenses, inventory levels, and other key performance indicators to inform business decisions.
• Provide robust financial modelling and insights to support new store launches, commercial projects, investments, and strategic initiatives.
• Forecast cash flow requirements accurately to maintain sufficient liquidity for ongoing operations while optimising working capital components such as receivables, payables, and inventory.
• Establish strong internal controls by developing finance policies and approval processes that safeguard company assets; ensure compliance with Malaysian statutory tax regulations including SST.
• Coordinate statutory audits, tax matters, regulatory submissions with auditors, tax agents, authorities; identify risks and recommend corrective actions as needed.
• Partner with merchandising, retail operations, digital commerce teams to provide financial guidance on profitability analysis, cost efficiency measures, inventory performance reviews.
• Support evaluation of capital expenditures (CAPEX), new stores or projects through detailed feasibility assessments based on sound financial analysis.
• Drive finance process improvements by leading system implementations or automation initiatives; review workflows for greater efficiency and scalability.
• Collaborate effectively with technology teams to strengthen data integrity within financial systems while enhancing reporting capabilities through automation.
• Lead the finance team by coaching members on responsibilities; set clear timelines; manage day-to-day execution; ensure appropriate segregation of duties within the function.
• Build strong relationships with external partners including auditors, bankers, tax agents while maintaining open communication channels with internal stakeholders.

What you bring:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required along with ACCA qualification which is mandatory for this position.
• At least 6 years' relevant experience in finance or accounting roles including 3 years spent managing teams or holding leadership responsibilities within similar environments.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Malaysian accounting standards plus taxation rules (including SST), audit procedures as well as statutory compliance requirements is essential.
• Proven track record in preparing accurate financial reports; leading budgeting cycles; forecasting results; managing cash flows; implementing internal controls effectively.
• Experience gained within retail sector (FMCG/consumer products/high-volume transactional settings) is highly preferred due to industry-specific demands around inventory accounting & gross margin analysis.
• Demonstrated ability using ERP/accounting systems coupled with hands-on involvement in process improvement or automation projects within finance departments.
• Advanced analytical skills supported by proficiency in Excel & financial modelling techniques enabling translation of complex data into actionable business recommendations.
• Commercially minded approach combined with practical problem-solving abilities; excellent communication skills; adept stakeholder management across multiple functions.
• High level of integrity demonstrated through attention to detail; capacity for managing competing priorities under tight deadlines without compromising quality.
