About Us
Tentacle Tech is an IT and software development consulting company serving some of Malaysia's largest enterprises. We deliver technology solutions, software development services, and IT consulting across multiple industries. We are looking for a talented professional to join our growing team.
The Role
As a Network Operations / Monitoring Engineer, you will be the first line of defence in keeping networks in the technology sector running smoothly. You will watch over network devices, links and services, respond to alerts, troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues, and make sure incidents are tracked and escalated until they are resolved. If you have a solid foundation in networking and enjoy working with monitoring and ticketing tools, this hybrid role is a great way to grow your career.
What You'll Do
- Monitor network devices, links, services and alerts through network-monitoring dashboards
- Perform first-level troubleshooting for connectivity and performance issues across routers, switches, firewalls, LAN and WAN
- Create, update and follow up incident tickets until resolution, escalating complex issues to L2/L3 Network Engineers or vendors
- Track bandwidth utilisation, device availability, latency and overall network-health indicators
- Maintain daily network-health and incident reports, and support weekly/monthly availability and performance reporting
- Use approved AI/AIOps tools, where available, to help with alert summarisation, anomaly identification and preliminary troubleshooting
- Keep proper documentation and follow established operational and escalation procedures
What We're Looking For
- 1–3 years of experience in Network Operations, NOC, Network Support or a related role
- Good understanding of LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLAN and basic network troubleshooting
- Basic hands-on experience with routers, switches and firewalls, plus basic knowledge of Cisco networking
- Exposure to monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, PRTG, SolarWinds, Alerta or equivalent
- Experience with incident ticketing and following escalation procedures; familiarity with Linux, Windows Server, Wireshark, PuTTY or SecureCRT
- Good documentation, communication and reporting skills
- Added advantage: exposure to AI/AIOps monitoring tools such as Cisco AI Network Analytics, HPE Mist/Marvis or Splunk AI Assistant
What We Offer
- Training and upskilling opportunities to deepen your networking and monitoring expertise
- Mentorship from experienced engineers
- Clear career progression pathways
- A supportive, collaborative team environment
