Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Data Platform Engineer to support, maintain, and enhance enterprise data platforms that underpin critical business and investment operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for production support, incident management, platform administration, operational automation, and continuous service improvement.

Responsibilities

Production Support and Platform Operations

• Provide day-to-day support for enterprise data platforms and ensure adherence to agreed service levels.
• Monitor platform performance, availability, and operational health.
• Perform routine maintenance, housekeeping, and operational activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve platform incidents and service disruptions.
• Conduct root cause analysis and maintain knowledge base documentation.
• Provide technical support and guidance to internal stakeholders.

Incident, Problem and Change Management

• Manage incidents throughout the complete lifecycle, including triage, escalation, resolution, communication, and closure.
• Participate in problem management and post-incident reviews.
• Implement preventive measures to minimize recurring issues.
• Prepare and execute production changes following established change management procedures.
• Develop implementation, rollback, and validation plans for production deployments.

Automation and Continuous Improvement

• Develop and maintain automation solutions using Python, SQL, Ansible, and Shell scripting.
• Automate operational processes, monitoring activities, deployments, and reporting.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation initiatives.
• Analyse operational metrics, incident trends, and SLA performance to identify improvement opportunities.
• Drive process optimization and operational efficiency initiatives.

Collaboration and Documentation

• Work closely with internal teams, stakeholders, and vendors on operational and project activities.
• Support platform upgrades, enhancements, and project implementations.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and operational procedures.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer and operational readiness activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• Experience supporting enterprise applications or data platforms in a production environment.
• Strong understanding of Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
• Good knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with version control and CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Experience in financial services, banking, asset management, or investment management environments.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Datadog, Grafana, or CloudWatch.
• Understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Exposure to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
• Familiarity with ITIL practices and ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow.
• Familiarity with SDLC and Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Willingness to participate in on-call or rotational support schedules.
