The Mission

Direct Lending is a fast-growing, award-winning lending fintech on a mission to empower people's lives with simple and responsible financing. Having built a sustainable, profitable foundation, we are now entering a scaling-up phase. Our roadmap is clear: scale our needs-based financing, grow our revenue 5X and become IPO-ready by 2030.

We’re looking for a sharp, highly detail-oriented person to be the Founder’s right-hand support and to own our payroll and HR administration. This role suits someone who anticipates needs before they’re spoken, reacts quickly, handles confidential matters with complete discretion — and takes real pride in getting every detail right.

As a guide, the role is roughly half PA support to the Founder and half HR and payroll, with light office operations. You’ll report directly to the Founder for PA support, and to our HR Manager for HR and payroll matters.

Why Join Direct Lending?

  • Work directly with the Founder: You’ll work closely with the Founder and the leadership team, gaining a unique bird’s-eye view of how a profitable fintech scales and prepares for an IPO.
  • Own a critical function: You’ll run payroll and HR administration end to end — work every team member relies on every month.
  • A Growing Platform: As we grow from a solid foundation toward 5X revenue, your role will evolve — with opportunities to develop toward HR operations, compensation and benefits, or a senior executive assistant role.

Your Core Responsibilities

1. PA Support to the Founder

  • Manage the Founder’s calendar, anticipating priorities and scheduling meetings.
  • Coordinate business travel — flights, accommodation, transport, documentation and related claims.
  • Act as liaison between the Founder and internal and external stakeholders, prioritising urgent matters.
  • Follow through on actions and deadlines so nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Handle sensitive information and correspondence with absolute discretion.

2. Payroll (end to end)

  • Run the monthly payroll end to end in our HR system (BrioHR), including leave, claims, allowances, overtime and deductions, and submit it for management approval.
  • Ensure payroll is accurate and paid on time, every month.
  • Reconcile payroll and resolve employee queries promptly.

3. Statutory Compliance

  • Prepare and submit statutory contributions and filings accurately and on time — EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB/MTD, HRDF, CP22/CP22A, EA forms and Borang E.
  • Flag relevant changes in Malaysian employment and payroll requirements to the HR Manager.

4. HR Administration

  • Maintain accurate employee records and personnel files, with high standards of data privacy.
  • Handle the administrative side of onboarding and offboarding — employment documentation, system set-up, statutory registrations, and final pay and clearance.
  • Help keep the Employee Handbook and HR policies up to date.

5. Office Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day office upkeep and manage vendors such as cleaners, supplies and building management.

Who You Are

Must-haves

  • 2–4 years of experience as a PA, executive assistant or in a similar support role working closely with senior leaders.
  • Exceptional attention to detail — you catch the small things others miss, and you double-check before anything goes out.
  • Strong numeracy and good Excel skills.
  • Quick on your feet and able to read situations — you anticipate what’s needed without being told.
  • Highly organised; able to juggle a busy calendar alongside fixed monthly deadlines.
  • Trustworthy, with a proven track record of handling confidential information with integrity.
  • Good written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Willingness to learn payroll and statutory compliance thoroughly.

Advantage

  • Experience with payroll, HR administration or accounts.
  • Familiarity with payroll/HR systems (BrioHR or similar).
  • Exposure to a fast-growing company or financial services business.

A Note on Confidentiality

Given the sensitivity of the role, you’ll be required to sign a confidentiality agreement. Payroll is prepared by you and approved by management, and any changes to your own pay are handled independently.

How to Apply

Attention to detail matters in this role. Please begin your application message with the words “Detail matters”, and answer the question below in no more than 100 words:

Tell us about a time you caught a mistake before it went out, or anticipated what your manager needed before they asked.
