About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Cloud Architect to design, implement, and optimise secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure supporting our GenAI-native financial services platform.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in cloud architecture, infrastructure automation, containerisation, and cloud security, with the ability to translate business and technical requirements into robust cloud solutions.

You will work closely with engineering, DevOps, security, and product teams to build cloud-native environments that support enterprise applications, AI-driven workloads, and mission-critical financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Architecture & Solution Design

• Design and implement scalable, highly available, and cost-efficient cloud architectures across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Develop cloud infrastructure solutions aligned with business requirements, performance objectives, and security standards.
• Define cloud architecture patterns, technical standards, and deployment best practices.
• Support the integration of cloud-native applications, microservices, APIs, and AI/ML workloads.
• Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend improvements to existing architecture.

Cloud Infrastructure & Automation

• Design and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Implement containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to establish and optimise CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Develop cloud networking, storage, compute, and database solutions.
• Ensure cloud environments are optimised for reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Security, Compliance & Governance

• Embed security best practices into cloud architecture, including identity and access management, encryption, network security, and data protection.
• Support compliance with financial services regulations and relevant standards, including ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and applicable data protection requirements.
• Implement cloud monitoring, logging, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
• Conduct architecture reviews, identify potential risks, and recommend mitigation measures.
• Work closely with security and compliance teams to maintain enterprise-grade cloud governance.

Performance & Cost Optimisation

• Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, availability, and resource utilisation.
• Identify opportunities to optimise cloud costs without compromising security or performance.
• Support capacity planning, workload scaling, and performance improvements.
• Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure and integration issues.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with software engineers, AI engineers, DevOps, and security specialists to deliver integrated cloud solutions.
• Translate technical requirements into clear architecture designs and implementation plans.
• Provide technical guidance and support to development and infrastructure teams.
• Maintain architecture documentation, technical specifications, and operational guidelines.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, cloud engineering, or solution architecture.
• Proven experience designing and implementing production-grade cloud solutions.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of cloud architecture, distributed systems, networking, and infrastructure design.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM/Bicep.
• Proficiency in containerisation and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of cloud security, IAM, encryption, network segmentation, and security monitoring.
• Experience with cloud databases, storage services, API gateways, and microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or Azure Monitor.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Professional Cloud Architect.
• Experience working in banking, insurance, fintech, or other regulated industries.
• Understanding of financial services security, compliance, and data governance requirements.
• Experience supporting AI/ML infrastructure, GenAI applications, or large language model (LLM) workloads.
• Familiarity with hybrid-cloud or multi-cloud architectures.
• Knowledge of event-driven architecture, serverless computing, and cloud-native application modernisation.
