Hiring: Database Engineer

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Onsite)

Experience: 5–8+ Years

Contract: 6 Months (Extendable)

We are looking for an experienced Database Engineer to design, develop, and optimize platform databases and AI-ready data services for a large-scale digital transformation programme. The role will focus on database architecture, data modelling, performance optimization, and AI-native data capabilities.

• Design, develop, and optimize database solutions aligned with the existing Portal target architecture

• Manage and optimize Aurora PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis, and other relevant database technologies

• Develop effective data models to support application performance, scalability, and reliability

• Support database integration across SAP, AWS, integration platforms, security, and business systems

• Contribute to AI-ready data services, including RAG concepts and vector database integration

• Perform database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and data access optimization

• Prepare technical documentation, solution designs, testing evidence, and deployment artefacts

• Support SIT, UAT, production releases, and hypercare activities

• Resolve database defects and support issue investigation and remediation

• Prepare operational handover documentation, runbooks, and support materials

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality technical delivery

• 5–8+ years of relevant database engineering experience in enterprise environments

• Strong hands-on experience with Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL — Mandatory

• Experience with NoSQL databases, including MongoDB and DynamoDB — Mandatory

• Hands-on experience with Redis — Mandatory

• Strong knowledge of data modelling, database design, and performance optimization

• Understanding of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) concepts

• Awareness of Vector Databases and their application in AI solutions

• Experience working on large-scale enterprise or digital transformation programmes

• Familiarity with AWS database and data services is preferred

• Experience supporting integrations, testing, production releases, and hypercare

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to collaborate effectively with SAP, AWS, Integration, Security, and Business teams
