AMBR is building an agentic fund administration platform where AI agents work alongside people to prepare work, coordinate workflows, and support operational decisions, with human review and approval.
We are looking for a hands-on Full-Stack Software Engineer to own technical delivery and help build, launch, and continuously improve the platform. You will work closely with the founder and fund administration specialists, bringing independent engineering judgment and product development experience.
This is an individual contributor role with substantial technical ownership. You will extend an existing product and codebase and take features through to reliable production operation. You should be comfortable investigating unfamiliar code, challenging assumptions, and proposing practical improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end feature delivery, from understanding business requirements and implementing UI/UX designs to backend development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Build intuitive interfaces and reliable workflows for fund administration, including operational records, data review, approvals, and exception handling.
- Design and maintain APIs, databases, and integrations, ensuring data integrity, appropriate access controls, and traceable changes.
- Observe how administrators use the platform, compare system outputs with existing fund administration processes, and turn discrepancies and user feedback into tested product improvements.
- Integrate AI agents into product workflows, including tool use, evaluation, error handling, and human handoffs.
- Maintain production reliability through automated delivery, monitoring, troubleshooting, backups, and recovery procedures.
- Implement and document technical controls supporting applicable security, regulatory, and compliance requirements, working with business owners and advisers.
- Improve architecture and engineering practices, build reusable components, and recommend technologies based on product needs and maintainability.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ownership of a production application or substantial product area, from implementation and release through troubleshooting and ongoing improvement. You should be able to explain your personal contribution, technical decisions, failures encountered, and how you resolved them.
- Experience extending and improving an existing codebase, including identifying what to reuse, what to refactor, and how to introduce changes safely.
- Strong frontend development skills using JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and a modern framework such as React, Vue, or Angular, including component design, forms, state management, accessibility, and responsive interfaces.
- Strong backend development skills using Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript, including API design, authentication, authorisation, integrations, asynchronous programming, and background processing.
- Strong SQL and relational database fundamentals, including data modelling, transactions, constraints, migrations, indexing, and query optimisation.
- Experience building workflows involving permissions, approvals, document processing, or background jobs, with reliable handling of retries, concurrent changes, and failures.
- Ability to maintain data integrity and traceability across source documents, calculated outputs, revisions, and user decisions.
- Practical experience with automated testing, Git, CI/CD, containers, and cloud platforms, including deploying applications and diagnosing production issues through logs and monitoring.
- Sound understanding of software architecture and secure development, including permissions, secrets management, sensitive data protection, and audit logging.
- Effective use of AI coding tools while retaining ownership of architecture, correctness, security, testing, and maintainability. You must be able to explain and debug the code you ship.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business needs into maintainable software, assess technical trade-offs, and take ownership of delivery.
- Fluent professional English, written and spoken. You must be able to understand detailed business and technical documents and produce clear, accurate documentation, implementation proposals, operational guides, and stakeholder communications.
Preferred Experience
- Building agentic applications using frameworks such as Mastra, LangGraph, or comparable agent frameworks, including tool calling, structured outputs, evaluation, and human review.
- Financial services, accounting, or other products involving complex workflows and sensitive data.
- Taking an early-stage product into production.
- Supporting engineering controls and documentation for security, regulatory, or compliance reviews.
