Areas of responsibilities:

Legal Advisory & Risk Management

  • Provide legal advice to Management and business units.
  • Identify and manage legal, regulatory and contractual risks.
  • Monitor changes in laws, regulations and government policies.

Contract & Document Management

  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts, agreements and legal documents.
  • Review company policies for legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor contractual obligations, notices and breaches.
  • Maintain proper legal and project records.

Corporate & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with the Companies Act and relevant property, land, data protection and other laws.
  • Advise on corporate governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Protect the Group’s intellectual property and confidential information.

Dispute & Settlement Management

  • Handle legal disputes, claims, settlements and negotiations.
  • Coordinate with external lawyers, courts, consultants and other parties.
  • Manage construction, development, homeowner and contractual disputes.

Urban Renewal & Authority Liaison

  • Manage legal matters related to land acquisition, planning and urban renewal projects.
  • Liaise with government authorities, consultants, lawyers and other professional advisers.
  • Track authority submissions, approvals and follow-up actions.

Project & Stakeholder Management

  • Monitor legal, project and settlement matters and resolve issues promptly.
  • Prepare reports and updates for Senior Management.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct legal/compliance briefings and manage external legal resources.


Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in law, or a related discipline. A recognised legal qualification and eligibility to practice in Malaysia would be an advantage, subject to the scope of duties assigned.
  • Experience: Preferably three to four years of relevant experience in legal practice, especially laws related to property industry e.g. Strata Management Act, Housing Development Act, Land Act, construction related contract, corporate laws exposure for public or private entities, court experience is a plus, attending to dispute resolutions.
  • Languages: Good command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia. Ability to communicate in other relevant local languages would be an advantage.
  • Other requirements: Strong drafting, negotiation, stakeholder-management, organisation and reporting skills. Willingness to liaise with authorities and travel to project or stakeholder locations when required.
