About the Opportunity
On behalf of our client, an established company operating within the logistics, warehousing and transportation sector, RIHGA is currently seeking an experienced Forwarding Agent to be based in Kuching, Sarawak.
The successful candidate will be responsible for handling customs declarations, import/export clearance, shipping documentation and regulatory compliance, while coordinating with customs authorities, carriers, transporters and internal logistics teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit customs declarations in compliance with Malaysian customs regulations.
- Handle import, export, transshipment and customs clearance processes, including documentation and tariff classifications.
- Liaise with customs officers, port authorities, carriers and relevant regulatory bodies to resolve clearance issues.
- Verify and process shipping documentation including CIPL, permits, Certificate of Origin (COO) and related documents.
- Ensure accurate HS Code classification and duty/tax calculations to minimise clearance delays.
- Monitor updates to customs regulations and advise on changes affecting logistics operations.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, transporters and warehouse teams to ensure smooth cargo movement.
- Maintain proper records of customs declarations, duty payments and compliance documentation.
- Assist with audits and investigations relating to customs matters.
Requirements
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in customs declaration, freight forwarding, shipping or logistics.
- A valid Customs Agent Course (KEK) certification would be an added advantage.
- Familiar with the Malaysia Customs Act, Dagang Net, SMK and related customs clearance systems.
- Hands-on customs declaration and clearance experience involving K1, K2, K3, K8 and related forms.
- Strong knowledge of HS Codes, import/export documentation and duty/tax regulations.
- Good understanding of forwarding, shipping, logistics, warehousing and supply-chain processes would be advantageous.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle documentation accurately.
- Able to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple clearance matters efficiently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant customs-related software.
- Possess a valid driving licence and own transport.
Pay: Up to RM3,000.00 per month
