Job Summary

Lead and oversee the cloud legal and procurement strategy, governance and commercial activities to optimise value, manage legal, contractual and commercial risks, ensure regulatory and policy compliance, and support the organisation’s strategic cloud objectives.

Provide strategic legal and commercial advice on complex and high-value cloud arrangements to enable informed decision-making, strengthen contractual protections and achieve sustainable commercial outcomes.

Drive cross-functional collaboration across Legal, Procurement, Technology, Finance and business stakeholders to ensure effective management of cloud sourcing, contracting, vendor relationships and associated risks throughout the contract lifecycle.

Establish and strengthen cloud legal and procurement frameworks, standards and governance practices to enhance organisational capability, accountability and consistency in managing cloudrelated activities.

Develop and retain specialised internal cloud legal and procurement expertise to build long-term organisational capability, improve operational efficiency and reduce reliance on external advisers and service providers.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Lead cloud legal and procurement strategies to maximise commercial value and support business objectives.

2. Oversee complex cloud sourcing and contracting activities to ensure commercially sound and compliant outcomes.

3. Advise senior management on cloud legal, contractual and commercial matters to enable informed strategic decisions.

4. Negotiate high-value and complex cloud agreements to protect organisational interests and optimise contractual outcomes.

5. Establish cloud legal and procurement governance frameworks to strengthen controls, consistency and accountability.

6. Manage key cloud service provider relationships to optimise performance, commercial value and contractual compliance.

7. Identify material legal, commercial and contractual risks to minimise organisational exposure and protect business interests.

8. Drive cloud cost optimisation and commercial initiatives to improve expenditure efficiency and maximise return on cloud investments.

9. Collaborate with senior stakeholders across Legal, Procurement, Technology, Finance and business functions to align cloud decisions with organisational priorities.

10. Develop cloud legal and procurement capabilities, standards and practices to strengthen internal expertise and reduce reliance on external support.

Qualification & Work Experience

1. Bachelor's degree in Law / Business Administration / Procurement / Supply Chain Management / Finance or related field with professional legal and / or procurement qualification / certification, where relevant from a recognized university.

2. Strong knowledge of cloud computing, cloud service models, technology procurement, commercial contracting, vendor management, data protection, cybersecurity and relevant regulatory requirements + demonstrated understanding of the legal, commercial and procurement considerations applicable to cloud services.

3. Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal, with a focus on persuasive communication and the ability to craft effective advocacy messaging.

4. Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, government agencies, and other relevant partners.

5. Demonstrated strategic thinking and the ability to develop and execute advocacy strategies aligned with organizational goals.

6. Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards pertaining to advocacy and stakeholder engagement.

7. Strong analytical skills to assess the impact and effectiveness of advocacy programs and adjust strategies accordingly.

8. Proficiency in crisis management and the ability to make decisions under pressure when unexpected challenges arise.

9. 16 years of relevant experience in legal, commercial contracting, technology procurement, cloud services, vendor management and / or strategic sourcing.

10. 8-10 years of relevant experience in cloud and technology-related legal and commercial matters, including complex contract negotiation, procurement strategy, risk management and governance.

11. 5-8 years of relevant experience in leading or managing complex, high-value technology or cloud engagements involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.

12. 5 years of relevant experience in supervisory, leadership pr strategic advisory experience in legal, procurement, commercial or technology functions.
