Full Stack Software Engineer

Role Overview

Our Client is seeking a passionate and experienced Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team supporting large-scale Government Digital Transformation initiatives in Singapore.

This role is focused on new application development, feature delivery, and product engineering, rather than operational support. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering citizen-centric digital services while taking strong ownership of technical solutions throughout the software development lifecycle.

You will work closely with Product Managers, Solution Architects, UX Designers, QA Engineers, and Government stakeholders to build secure, scalable, highly available, and accessible digital products that serve millions of users.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development & Product Delivery

• Design, develop, and enhance modern web applications using Next.js, React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
• Build scalable, maintainable, and reusable frontend and backend components.
• Develop RESTful APIs and backend services using Node.js, Koa, or Express.
• Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis through deployment and production release.
• Drive feature development for new initiatives, platform modernization, and digital transformation projects.

Technical Leadership & Ownership

• Take end-to-end ownership of application modules and product features.
• Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision-making.
• Drive code quality, performance optimization, security, and maintainability.
• Perform code reviews and mentor junior engineers where required.
• Proactively identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Champion engineering best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Cloud & System Engineering

• Design and develop cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Integrate and utilize services including:
• Lambda
• S3
• SQS
• RDS
• ElastiCache
• Build and maintain containerized applications using Docker.
• Support Infrastructure-as-Code implementations using Terraform.
• Develop highly available and scalable distributed systems.

Data & Integration Development

• Design and develop solutions utilizing:
• MySQL
• PostgreSQL
• Redis
• OpenSearch
• ActiveMQ
• Implement secure integrations with external government and enterprise systems.
• Develop API integrations with:
• Singpass
• MyInfo
• Other Government digital platforms

Quality Engineering

• Develop automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Ensure applications meet performance, security, accessibility, and reliability standards.
• Maintain high test coverage using:
• Jest
• React Testing Library
• Supertest
• Playwright
• Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards.

Innovation & Emerging Technologies

• Explore and implement AI-assisted development practices using GitHub Copilot.
• Evaluate and integrate Generative AI capabilities where applicable.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to the technology stack.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of software development experience in Full Stack Engineering.
• Strong experience delivering greenfield development projects and enterprise-scale applications.
• Proven track record of owning and delivering software solutions from design through production deployment.
• Experience working in Agile and product-oriented delivery environments.
• Experience in Government, Public Sector, Banking, Financial Services, or large-scale enterprise projects is highly preferred.
