Role Description:
This role as a Business Intelligence Analyst builds and automates reporting across departments using AI tools (Claude, Power BI, SQL). Positioned as an analytical/strategic counterpart to the existing systems developer. Reports directly to the Chief of Staff, reflecting that this is a strategic analytics function.
Responsibilities:
Departmental reporting design & automation
-
Work with department heads to define the metrics that actually drive decisions, not just metrics that are easy to pull
- Build automated, self-refreshing dashboards and reports (Power BI, Smartsheet, or equivalent) that reduce manual data compilation
- Prioritize leading indicators over lagging ones where possible
AI-assisted analytics
-
Use Claude and similar tools to query factory data (Marvel, SAGE, SJOnline, Power BI) in natural language and translate that into structured reports
- Build repeatable prompt/workflow patterns so reporting isn't dependent on one person's manual query-writing
- Pilot and scale "ask a question, get an answer" style analytics for non-technical department heads
Systems literacy, not systems ownership
-
Enough SQL/data-model understanding of SAGE X3, Marvel (MES), and SJ
- Online to know where a number actually comes from, without being the ERP administrator
- Flag data quality and definitional issues at the source rather than patching them downstream in reports
Strategic analytics layer
-
Act as the thinking layer above the existing systems developer — translating factory strategy and department needs into a reporting roadmap, rather than building point-solutions on request
- Bring structure to what's currently ad hoc: which reports exist, which are used, which should be retired or consolidated
Continuous improvement & standards
-
Evaluate existing reports and dashboards for redundancy, ambiguity, or low usage
- Establish lightweight standards for how new report requests are scoped, built, and handed over
Cross-functional coordination
-
Educate department users on how to read and use dashboards, not just how to request them
- Coordinate with HQ IT and the systems developer on changes affecting reporting pipelines
Requirements:
0-4 years in a business analyst, data analyst, or BI-related role. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
Demonstrated hands-on use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or similar) for analytical or reporting work
Working knowledge of Power BI or equivalent BI tool.
Basic to intermediate SQL — enough to understand and query relational data structures.
Experience with Smartsheet & Smartsuite is a plus.
Exposure to ERP systems (SAGE X3 or equivalent) as a data source is a plus.
