Job Summary

To operate, maintain and monitor golf course maintenance machinery and equipment to ensure the golf course, driving range and surrounding areas are maintained in good condition, safely and efficiently, in accordance with the club's maintenance standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Machine and Equipment Operation

• Operate golf course maintenance machinery, including tractors, grass cutters, mowers, utility vehicles, rollers, aerators and other relevant equipment.
• Perform mowing, trimming, rolling and other turf maintenance activities as instructed by the supervisor.
• Ensure machinery is operated safely and according to the manufacturer's operating procedures.
• Adjust machine settings according to turf conditions and golf course maintenance requirements.

2. Preventive Maintenance and Repairs

• Conduct daily pre-operation and post-operation inspections of machinery and equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning, greasing, checking oil levels, coolant, fuel and tyre pressure.
• Identify and report machine defects, breakdowns or maintenance requirements to the supervisor.
• Assist with minor repairs and ensure equipment is kept clean, serviceable and in good working condition.

3. Golf Course Maintenance

• Assist in maintaining fairways, roughs, tees, greens surrounds and other designated areas using appropriate machinery.
• Ensure mowing patterns, grass height and turf quality meet the club's maintenance standards.
• Support seasonal maintenance activities, including aeration, topdressing and other turf management work, where required.
• Complete assigned work according to the daily maintenance schedule.

4. Safety and Compliance

• Comply with occupational safety and health requirements when operating machinery.
• Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe operating procedures.
• Ensure machinery is secured and stored properly after use.
• Report accidents, near misses, unsafe conditions and equipment defects immediately.

5. Supervision and Work Coordination

• Assist the supervisor in coordinating daily machine operation tasks and guiding junior machine operators when required.
• Provide practical guidance to team members on proper machine handling and maintenance.
• Monitor the condition and readiness of machinery before work assignments.
• Ensure assigned tasks are completed efficiently and report work progress to the supervisor.

6. Other Duties

• Maintain proper records of machine usage, operating hours, fuel consumption and maintenance activities, where required.
• Assist with golf course preparation for tournaments, club events and special maintenance programmes.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the superior from time to time.

Recommended Job Requirements

• Minimum SPM or equivalent qualification; relevant technical or machinery operation training is an advantage.
• Relevant experience operating golf course maintenance machinery or similar heavy-duty equipment.
• Knowledge of basic machinery maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Ability to identify equipment defects and perform routine inspections.
• Good understanding of workplace safety procedures.
• Ability to work outdoors, including weekends and public holidays according to the golf club's operational requirements.
• Ability to work independently and guide junior operators.
